I'm finally catching up on all the stuff I wish I'd been able to post right after the game. And as far as analysis goes here, I'm tempted to simply write: NATIONAL CHAMPS!

But, for the sake of tradition, I might as well delve a little deeper. We all know K really shortened the bench in this game, and the plus/minus numbers offer a pretty good indication of why that was the case. The starters simply played better as a unit than any other group. Granted the three reserves might have contributed with more minutes, but the team struggled in their limited minutes, particularly in the case of Mason and Dawkins. On the other side, during the three minutes Jon Scheyer spent on the bench in foul trouble in the first half, Duke got outscored by three points. And in the five minutes Lance Thomas spent on the bench, Duke got outscored by eight points, which is simply staggering. Loran16, wherever you are, consider that a going-away present from LT. It was interesting to note that the team basically performed just as well with Miles Plumlee at the 5 as with Brian Zoubek. That said, this was a game to celebrate the five veteran starters, and especially the three seniors, so it's only fitting to see that group on top of the plus/minus chart one last time.

Anyway, on to the numbers ...

Lance Thomas 57-47 (+10)
