I was listening to David Glenn on 99.9 The Fan today. A caller, who identified himself as a lifelong Carolina fan, offered compliments to Duke. He then told an interesting story.

He said that last summer he attended many nights of two different summer leagues, one at NCCU in Durham, and one at Carolina. (I'm not sure of the names of the leagues. Glenn was very familiar with them.) The caller said that at both sites, but especially the one at Central, he saw Duke players, in particular Nolan and Zoubs, working their rear ends off, working on skills and playing hard. They asked for playing time, and worked hard. This caller said that he did not see Carolina players at these games, and he attributed the improvement in the Duke players' games to the hard work they put in during the summer.

It was pretty incredible hearing this from a guy who really is a UNC fan.

Glenn followed up the call by stating that even the UNC 2009 National Championship team did not show the improvement from the 2008 year, because they did not put in the work.

Veddy interesting.

Search "NC Pro-am" and you will see the results of many of the summer games - and yes - UNC's players were there as well...
