We've got a Samsung hi-def LCD TV that's been really good. Its about 3 years old and past warranty.

Recently, we've been having difficulty getting it to power-up. It acts like its going to, but then doesn't. It takes three to five presses on the remote control power button. When it does come on, about 1/3rd of the time, we get pink diagonal dotting through the picture. Then we have to restart, hoping first, that it will power up again and second, that the pinky dots are gone.

Any clues? Anyone seen this? Any ideas?

I don't suppose it's still under warranty or service contract, is it? We're you lucky enough to buy it from Sam's Club or Costco? Sounds like you might have a power supply problem, or some board associated with it.

No clue as to your problem, but let me suggest that you do a Google search for any forums that cover Samsung products. Sometimes the manufacturer has links to forums that could help you. They also may have an online owner's manual that may give you some hints on how to correct the problem. Other than that, as Ozzie suggests, contact the vendor from whom you purchased the set. Hope you didn't buy it from the back of some guy's SUV.
