Has last night ratings came out? I would assume last night Championship game were high. It would be interesting to see how many people watched and to see if it won, which I have a feeling it did.

It was the highest rated final since 1999.

It was rated higher than any MLB game since game 4 of the World Series in 2004 (Red Sox break the curse game).

It was higher rated than any NBA game since 2002 (Lakers/Kings)

I bet this guy feels really stupid (http://feeds.foxsports.com/cbk/story/if-basketball-had-a-bcs-system) right now

And wouldn’t you – deep down, admit it – rather be watching Kansas-Kentucky?

I'm surprised only 1/3 of America had something better to do than watch the heels last year.

Who cares why they watched? It's what they saw that matters:)

Two major factors contributed to the high ratings in my opinion.

1.) Duke haters would have have tuned in hoping to see a Duke loss no matter who the other team was. If you think about it, this includes a majority of the Tar-Heel and Kentucky fan bases, which are a huge.

2.) Also, we had a cindarella story bigger than any we've seen in a while in Butler. So a large number of viewers tuned in to root FOR the underdog, even more than usual.

Here are the numbers (http://sportsmediawatch.blogspot.com/2010/04/dukebutler-scores-239-million-viewers.html).

Highest rated since 2005 (UNC-Illinois)
Most viewers since 2001 (you know that one :))

Probably the most exciting possible game, and ending, that does not include a last second buzzer beater.

Don't forget the fact that once the game got underway, it was nip and tuck all the way-multiple ties/lead changes, etc. That definitely keeps the audience there and maybe attracts more viewers as the game goes on...

I wonder what the ratings were at the time that awful "One Shining Moment" was playing.
