Meeting my brother (Duke '94) in Vegas this weekend. Should Duke win tonight, any place for him to watch Sunday amongst friends?

I think you need to replace "should" with "when" :)

Ignoring the woofing above, sports books are almost always good places to watch. They usually avoid being too one-sided, since people have money both ways - and I imagine a healthy number of people have money on Duke this year, at least to the final four. I happen to like the one at the MGM Grand, but there are plenty of good ones on the strip.

Emeril Lagasse's Stadium at the Palazzo isn't bad, especially if you want to eat halfway decent food while the game is on.

If the operative words are "any place," well, there are tons of places. But if the operative words are "amongst friends," the Duke Club of Las Vegas meets up here (http://cityvoter.com/buffalo-wild-wings-4280-hualapai-way-spring-valley-las-vegas-nv-89147/loc/323934). I know they have a get-together set for tonight's game; I assume they'll do the same for any future games. Warning: it's on the extreme west side of town, not close to the Strip, or really anything.

I love the sports book at the Bellagio. Those seats are incredibly comfortable.

Hey, thanks (really to all of you for the suggestions, but specifically for this one associated with the club). I had looked on the alumni website and didn't see Las Vegas listed.

(And I don't mind the earlier woofing... I only put "should" Duke win so as not to be blamed for jinxing anything. I'd like little more than to have nothing to watch on Sunday afternoon ;))

My crew watches at Blue Light in the Marina (Union and Buchanan St).

Great sports bar, lots of TVs, and solid food.

Does the Duke club still watch there? Will they be watching the FF games there?

I will be in Vegas for both games. I will be there with Carolina fans who have told me that they will be actively rooting against Duke, and I don't want to watch with them. I think we might be able to work out a compromise for Saturday's game, but on Monday (knock on wood), I will have to find a place to watch the game by myself. I'm staying at Palazzo and Lagasse's stadium is booked, and I imagine most of the sportsbooks will be standing room only. I might have to find a VP bar or something. I'm a little annoyed at myself for not thinking this through, but when this trip was planned, it seemed pretty unlikely that Duke would be in the FF. :o

There was evidence of Duke having a gathering because there was still a Duke sign on the wall... And, as my brother has gotten flack for wearing his '91 championship shirt at a craps table, I'm thinking it wasn't there for the locals.

However, in watching this past Sunday's game there, there were only a handful of Duke fans, all separate, watching independently. Still a nice place to watch. Great projection tv, nice sound (that could be heard) and a pleasant break from the Strip.

But if you want a crowd... sports book.

(and thanks again, Brevity... it was a nice surprise for my brother that I went to the effort)

The Duke club in Atlanta will be watching at Stats downtown.

From the Duke in Atlanta FB page:

STATS will be the Duke Club of Atlanta's official viewing location for all 2010 NCAA Tournament games. STATS is located downtown at 300 Marietta Street NW, Atlanta, GA 30313 (www.statsatl.com 404.885.1472). During Duke games, STATS will be offering the following specials to alumni wearing Duke fan apparel:

* Complimentary parking for three hours
* $2 draft on all domestic and import beers
* 20% off any appetizer

Thanks. I guess if I have to take a cab from the strip, it probably won't be worth the trip.

I'm sure the game will be on every TV in every bar all over town, so it's not like it will be hard to find. I might try some sportsbooks but I'm sure they will be crowded and I'd like to be able to sit down.

I've read on another thread that they show at least the Championship (if we are in it) in Cameron. Do they show the semifinals as well? Also, do you have to be a student to get in and watch?

Hi all,

I wasn't able to make any of the previous Dallas watch parties, but wanted to see if anyone was up for getting together for the Final Four Semi's on Saturday evening. I'm game for meeting wherever as long as (1) the number of Duke Haters is as low as possible and (2) big HD tvs.

When I was a student 2000-04, I remember line monitors swiping student IDs to get into the Final Four screenings in Cameron. Maybe it's changed?

Hi Dave,

We've been having the watch parties at Humperdink's in Dallas on Greenville Ave between Southwestern Blvd and Caruth Haven. The guy who usually coordinates it hasn't sent out any info on Saturday's game yet. But generally speaking that is where we go.

Cameron is indeed student-only for both games. Even significant others need a "partner ID" to get in, per Larry Moneta.

Sati's is, of course, the most popular place to watch the game downtown, and Carolina Ale House (near Target) will be another hotspot. I'll probably be at West End Wine Bar, where I can get a better seat and watch the game with less distraction.

For anyone going to Vegas- I and about ten other Duke fans/alums will be watching the game from a penthouse suite at Caesars Palace. There are some high rollers amongst our group and we will have cocktail waitresses and enough booze and food for a huge party (as long as everyone is a Duke fan!). Some of the guys already have huge season long bets on Duke to win the championship and have vowed to bet the farm on them against WVU, which should make for even more excitement. Also, on previous trips, the winners have forked the bill for a night out at the clubs and strip clubs via a host (and Duke fan) at http://www.vegashotspots.com

Get at me if you're in Vegas and need a place to watch and party. The more the merrier!

I actually will be in Vegas Saturday evening for a bachelor party (don't worry, we're stopping to watch the games...my friends are Michigan Snake fans and Duke haters). I'm not betting anything on these games at all, or I would just go nuts. I may see what our odds are for next season, but I'll probably be too focused on Saturday's game.

FYI, there's been a change in venue for the Final Four. Duke Club of N. Texas will be watching the Final Four games at Frankie's Sports Bar (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&q=3227+McKinney,+Dallas,+TX+75204&sll=32.803883,-96.799698&sspn=0.007431,0.014505&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=3227+McKinney+Ave,+Dallas,+Texas+75204&ll=32.806412,-96.7997&spn=0.009721,0.015664&z=16) in Uptown Dallas on McKinney Ave.

I would say earlier than 7:30pm for Sati's. It was apparently packed Saturday night. Didn't go to the WaDuke, but saw pics. It looked pretty cool, but maybe not the environment if you tend to get really vocal (which I do). Plus it's more expensive. I'm better off in my own home, my neighbors know me by now and it won't phase them to hear my screams. . . and occasional expletive.

Hey everyone, I've read the forums for a long time now but this team has pushed me over the edge into participating more actively :)

I'm in Houston, and I know there are a fair share of Dukies down here. The alumni association lists the watch party at the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema (other watch party locations (http://www.dukealumni.com/olc/pub/DUKE/cm_clubs/club_7.html)) over by Alief area, but I'm closer to downtown and not excited about driving out there.

Anyone know of other Duke friendly bars in the Med Center/Midtown/Downtown areas?

Is everyone going to Alamo Drafthouse and I should just suck it up and drive 45min out there?

There's something to be said for being in a united environment. Unfortunately, I haven't found much of one here in Chicago, and all of my old blockmates are in other states, so I'll likely be doing the same march in front of my own TV.

Amen. I often feel this way in big games. There's something different about a Championship game, though. I want to be able to experience it with fellow Duke fans. Almost as good as being back on campus.

But if I can't find a place guaranteed to be overflowing with Duke fans, it's the couch for me!

This is how I feel as well. I was a wreck during the Baylor game.

I watched one game with the local Duke club. It was a 2005 Duke-UNC game and they thought it would be a good idea to invite the UNC club. I sat next to a Heel who was a bigtime jerk (and perhaps slightly overserved). Never again, I told myself.

For some reason, I really want to be in an excited Duke environment. The sound of a single clap gets old after a while. :) (My wife doesn't get too excited about hoops... yet... I'm hoping for some progress on that front tonight.) I guess I've transitioned from the "we've got a lot to lose tonight" mindset to the "we've got a lot to win" mindset. So I'm meeting my dad at the local Duke hoops watch party. Here's hoping for a magical night!

Tell me about it. That was the game where we blew a 9 point lead in the last three (scoreless) minutes and lost by two. Sean May went for 26 and 24. Disgusting.

On a more positive (and on-topic) note, I'm off to the watch party. Let's go, Duke!
