kind of depends on how Arinze Onuaku's knee is. This one is a bit of a toss up to me. Though that's not much different than the other regions.

Watch out for Murray State in this bracket. The Racers have like 6 guys averaging 10 PPG and are very athletic. They could easily take out Vandy and possibly reach the Sweet 16 as this year's Cinderella.

I was a big believer in Syracuse until their recent losses, and I still think they are solid.

Their main strength is in their defense, which I'm biased towards as a Duke fan. It's true that Boeheim and Coach K have very different defensive philosophies, but each can work well if executed well. It's possible that K-State will just shoot Syracuse out of the building, if the zone is too soft, but generally Syracuse plays very good zone.

Also, Syracuse is a very balanced team. I agree that they need their big man Arinze Onuaku to be healthy, but if he is, I'm going to trust in Boeheim to bring his team to the final 4. Wes Johnson is probably the star of that team, but really they get production from everyone, which hopefully bodes well for their getting back on track.

I don't know much about K-State except casual comments about them getting a lot of foul shots, and I thought I heard they shoot a lot of 3's. What does DBR think of how good they are?

If BYU can somehow get through the second round, this bracket could get VERY interesting. SLC fans are notoriously nasty (well, Jazz fans at least) and will turn out in force to support the Cougars.

What I fail to understand is this: If WVU was supposedly the next behind Duke to get a #1 seed, how did they not beat out syracuse to get it?? Syracuse lost early in the Big East Tourney and WVU won it. I don't think, in my opinion (rarely humble) that the committee gives enough credit to performace in your conference tournament.

And yes, I realize us winning the ACC seriously upped our cause for getting a number one. But, I still make the point, of the four number ones, three won their conf tournaments. In my perfect bracket, it should almost be on the "checklist" to get a #1.

While, of course, I expect Syracuse to beat Vermont, I watched Vermont play in their tournament championship game, and they're not a terrible team. They have a couple of nice players and, if Syracuse comes in taking them lightly, they might find themselves in a tough game in the second half.

Upset pick in this region: Murray State over Vandy.

All that being said, I still like Syracuse coming out of this region.

For the past two weeks, I thought Syracuse and Kansas were the only two locks for the Final Four. Nothing in this bracket changes that for me.

I have not seen a ton of K State this year but they remind me of a Gary Williams team - fired up coach, gym rats who hustle. But they can shoot their way out of a game and try to play too fast at times.

Outside of those two teams, I'm just not sure anyone else is capable of winning four games.

I can actually see Cuse losing this game. They don't have one of their key players and have already lost to a d3 school earlier in the year. I'm not saying i will think they will lose, but i would be completly shocked.

Against a 16-seed? Never happened in the history of the tournament and there's a reason for that. The difference between a 16-seed and 15-seed is actually enormous. They are really really bad teams. If Cuse was missing Rautins and Johnson, then there is a chance that Cuse would go down. But that chance, IMO, is still less than 10%.

The West isn't exactly murder's row. I think this is the hardest to pick winners from and the most wide open. I got KSU over SU but wouldn't be suprised if neither of those teams end up playing each other.
