Who was the Man of the Match in the ACC Tourney semifinal against Miami?

We are living off of Kyle's enthusiasm!! I'm loving it!

The Plumlees brought some flare this game and that was great to see!

Kyle has been crucial for us thus far in this tournament!

He finally seems to be figuring things out...catching in motion, going to the paint when matched up against smaller opponents, driving by larger and slower opponents, taking the jump shot when opponents learn to sag...

If he continues to play this way for the rest of the year he'll most likely be playing in the NBA next year.

Can we award this by acclamation? Really, is there anyone besides Kyle for MOTM?

Easily Singler. He's putting his stamp on the Tourney MOP honor if we can win tomorrow.

One more win tomorrow, Kyle earns the MVP, even if he plays badly.

100% so far (57 votes) for Kyle. That seems about right.

Kyle had some pro numbers today. 27 points, 8 rebounds 6 assists and a block. That is All-America numbers and what we have been expecting from him this season.

Not sure if there's ever been a unanimous one, but this should be.

Kyle of course but the performances of Lance and Zoubs shouldn't be overlooked. Many of Kyle's open looks resulted from their picks and work to impede defensive traffic through the lane. Basketball statisticians should create a new category for screens that lead to open jumpshots/baskets or award two assists, to each the passer and the screener.

Led the team in points, rebounds and assists. Gotta be Kyle

I agree about it being unanimous, but I am surprised that Zoubs hasn't gotten a vote or two. He did his job, and didn't foul out.

Ok, who voted for Miles....I want some justification!!!

He had a "better than normal" game but not MOTM type game!

Some people vote on the boxscore or to support their personal narrative about the team. That is why there will never be a unanimous decision.

(not to take away from a solid game from Miles. Great job!)

:p

I agree, Miles played well today, except for the butter fingers early on. I just wanted a justification. I like stats to back up thinking - it helps my analytical brain! :D

Brian made some important plays that kept us ahead. Lance in my mind just made those 3 silly fouls in a row and seemed to push us out of the good grove we were in.

Singler played a great game and scored points when we needed them. His two 3-pointers to open the second half were huge. Miami finished the 1st half on a great run so it was vital for Duke to open the 2nd half strong. Singler's shots set the tone.

Yeah, I'm not sure why people are surprised when we don't see a unanimous choice. There have been so many examples of games in which one player was clearly/completely the player of the game, and yet I don't think we've ever had a unanimous choice. Somebody always has to be a contrarian.

The poll is public. If you click on the vote numbers, you can see it was tltgap (http://www.dukebasketballreport.com/forums/member.php?u=5373) who voted for Miles Plumlee.

I'll blame this one on my blond days which are now a distant past (red is more fun).

HAHA! In any case, I will blame that post on me looking for some insight. I'm a "student of the game" so I like to analyze things.

Kyle basically put the team on his back when Jon and Nolan were both having subpar games IMO. He was quite clearly the difference-maker.

If ever there was a big game and a player to step it up when we needed it, today was that game and Kyle Singler was that player. I don't see how anyone could say otherwise. Thank God for Kyle Singler. Go Duke!

I'll admit I voted for Mason. He was a dominant force in the middle on a night Zoubs and Lance weren't really. Yes, I know Singler took this team on his back. But we really needed that inside presence, and Mason provided it for us (and that block was BEAST).

Kyle would have been my 1a vote :)

Singler, no doubt, Man of the Match. Such a talented kid, terrific artist, too.
Let's hope there's plenty of gas in the tank for tomorrow.

He's got the Battier look.
