Congratulations Jon and Kyle!! Really great year gaining deserved recognition. Next year I expect to see Nolan and Kyle on the first team! I do think Kyle is just underappreciated by those not really paying attention. He is so important to us, and does so many things well. Hard to understate what his flexibility - playing the 2, 3, 4 positions - gives to Duke and the coaching staff. And his toughness is contagious.

Well-earned guys.

How legit is this? I don't see it on ESPN. Is this the official, espn/ncaa all american list?

It's not legit, and it's not official. It's essentially an opinion piece from Sporting News, as far as I can tell.

It is legitimate enough for goduke.com to put out a release. I also felt that it would be nice to start a thread to collect all the inevitable talk on the sbject as more AA teams are released.

He's become much more appreciated by the pros as the year has progressed. Steve Kerr was in Cameron recently, and of course, Mike Dunleavy,Sr. was there this past weekend.
Kyle is a solid prospect. And with the looming union issues.....:(

Gary Parrish has Jon as a 3rd Team AA:

I believe that there are four All American teams that are used to identify the consensus All Americans for a particular year. They are the AP, The Sporting News (TSN), the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) and the US Basketball Writers Association (USBWA); although, Charlie Board added the Wooden All American team in 2001 so there may be five sources that are used to identify the consensus All Americans.

Sorry to be blunt but there's no other way around it: this team completely sucks. Tweety Carter isn't even the best player on Baylor, and anyone who doesn't think Cole Aldrich is one of the top 25 players in the country is - to borrow a phrase from Seth Greenberg - certifiably insane.

Yeah, both of those lists are pretty poor, in my opinion. I've argued in favor of Vasquez over Scheyer based on conference play, but for national honors (for which I'd include non-conference play) Scheyer is clearly ahead in my book.

I'd be okay with Scheyer as a 2nd-Team All-American if the five guys on the first team had better overall seasons. But when considering non-conference play I'd take Scheyer over Vasquez, and I'd take Scheyer over Butler as well.

I'm not buying Scottie Reynolds over Scheyer either.

I have no opinion on James Anderson as I've never heard of him. Strange...

I ahve to disagree with Vasquez as a first team. When Jon was winning basketball games for Duke in the early season...Vasquez as losing them for Maryland.
