I'll be there. First trip to the JPJ -- really looking forward to it.

Same here. should be a nice view 3 rows from the top of the stadium.

The view from up there is not all that bad.

If this is your first trip my recommendation is park at Barracks Rd shopping center and then walk up the hill to JPJ rather than down Emmitt street. You can then walk through the parking deck and enter at the "superbox level".

I will be getting there fairly early before the game. Any better options?

I usually have dinner on the corner and there are parking garages there. However, it is quite a hike to JPJ from the corner.

The problem with JPJ is that it is built across the street from U Hall and the parking lots don't have easy access to major roads. After the game the traffic is abysmal. If you are in the Barracks road parking lot you can get to 250 E/W and 29 N/S pretty easily.

Barracks Rd. is not far from the arena. I went to grad school at UVa but not when JPJ was there so I don't know if there are better options. There may be, but I bet they'll cost. You may also be able to find street parking on University Ave ("the Corner") where you can enjoy a sub a Little John's and a beer or four at the Biltmore. Then take a shuttle bus over to the arena, or else walk (shouldn't be more than 20-25 minutes).

How about the 11th street parking garage? or the Central grounds parking garage?

I will be there too!!! My girlfriend bought me tickets for Christmas! Im really excited!!! I have a question, if anyone is from that area, do you know of good places to eat? I haven't seen my girlfriend in 2 months because she's away in school at Wingate University and Sunday will be the first day I will see her in a long while...

On the corner, Michael's Bistro. A little farther away from the arena towards downtown, Continental Divide is great. Both are reasonably priced. For a top end meal, try C&O (downtown) or Fuel (technically downtown as well, but more off the mall).

I highly recommend C&O. If you want good, quick Mexican, give El Puerto a try, in the strip mall at Barracks and Emmet, behind the Tavern. Milan for Indian on 29 just north of the 250 bypass is also quite good. For Italian you'll want Vivaci on Ivy, just east of 29.

Regarding parking, there is a large garage on Ivy just west of Emmet.

Ehhh, I used to love that place... less so after I got food poisoning from it.

IMHO, the best restaurant around there is the Silver Thatch Inn, a few minutes north of town. Enoteca in the downtown mall is also a great place to take a lady friend (wine bar & paninis). And of course, you've got to get a sandwich (with house dressing) from Take It Away at some point.

Enjoy your trip!

Emmet/ivy looks like a good pick. Anyone know how much? what time it opens for the game?

If you have not seen your girlfriend in two months, I have an idea!!! Even if you are the best Blue Devil fan, if your seats are good, I suggest, see your girlfriend and I will take the tickets off your hand.

The wife is a wahoo, so she got us tickets for Christmas. We will be the couple that you will see with her wearing a UVA jersey, and me in my Duke jersey.
