Dominated by Duke.

" Led by all-league selections Vincent Rey and Will Snyderwine, Duke placed a conference-best 11 student-athletes on the 2009 Academic All-ACC Football Team announced on Wednesday by Commissioner John Swofford.

Other Blue Devils joining Rey and Snyderwine on the squad were Adam Banks, Lee Butler, Matt Daniels, Kyle Hill, Kevin Jones, Mitchell Lederman, Brian Moore, Chris Rwabukamba and Johnny Williams. Jones earned the honor for the second straight year.

Duke paced all schools with its 11 selections, followed by Clemson (7), Boston College (4), Virginia Tech (4), Florida State (3), Maryland (3), N.C. State (3), Georgia Tech (2), Miami (2), North Carolina (1), Virginia (1) and Wake Forest (1). Over the past five years, Duke has earned a conference-best 33 Academic All-ACC citations followed by Maryland (21), Boston College (19), Miami (19), Clemson (19), Florida State (16), Virginia Tech (16), Georgia Tech (15), Wake Forest (12), N.C. State (11), Virginia (9) and North Carolina (8).


To be eligible for consideration, a player must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during his academic career. In all, 10 players who received either first team, second team or honorable mention All-ACC honors were named to the 42-man team. The ACC has selected an all-Academic Football team every year since 1954."
