Ahhh, PTI, Mikey the avowed Duke hater and Tony the desperate class clown.

Two kind of smelly kids no one wants to sit next to on the bus.

To be honest that really does look ridiculous.

To be honest that really does look ridiculous.

From my understanding, that was the point.

A little off topic for this thread, but was anyone else a little pissed about Wilbon saying that there are 5-6 other sporting events he would rather watch tonight instead of Duke-unc?

Not really- usually these two teams are both in the top 10. That is not the case- UNC is struggling- Duke has had its issues on the road. This is a game for the fans tonight- not a whole lot beyond that will be interested. Perhaps the game in Cameron will draw more interest as we get near March madness.

I haven't read thread, but let me make this clear:

Shane Battier can do no wrong.
Live it
Learn it

IMHO, Shane's stache is the most badass thing I have ever seen.

Dang straight. Shane Battier does not break the rules of fashion; he makes them.

I didn't think there was any way I could love Shane Battier even more, but the 'stache clinched it. It should only get better from here.

I think it kinda looks like one of the old stache's that Groucho use to have. New name: Groucho Battier.:p

Actually, Tony from PTI called it "Pryorific" as in Richard Pryor the comedian. Its Wilbon who called it "pornorific."

I can see both!

I hope he grows a bushy "Pancho Villa"

But Shane Battier of the struggling Rockets (24-20) has a different idea. On a dare, he's growing a mustache for one of the few times in his life. The concept? To try and make it so hideous that his Rockets' teammates become inspired to improve their play and remove it.

"Until we start playing better, I'm going to let the 'stache go free," said Battier, sporting a three-day old, black-haired mustache following the Rockets' 102-95 loss to the Atlanta Hawks on Monday.

"My wife said, 'You need to at least trim it.' I said, 'No, it's gotta be natural. Just let the power of the 'stache emanate.' My good buddy Mike Dunleavy [former Duke teammate] and I, we have a running competition. He got me last year and grew a pretty thick one, so I'm trying to match him."

Dunleavy looks like someone off of a Magnum P.I. episode.

That mustache makes him look like that guy on the coffee commercials with the donkey, talking about the Columbian coffee beans! Maybe he is preparing for an acting career after the NBA...

I completely disagree. Wilbon does not approach anything resembling a Duke hater, neither does Tony. These guys are very fair-minded and criticize what is justified but not solely in the business to criticize. In the past they have praised Coach K lavishly and Wilbon has quite often made glowing remarks about Grant Hill when he comes up in conversation. Tony offers some old-skool kind of wit that I actually appreciate.

It's about the only sports-related show I like to watch on TV for the very reasons I described above.

On a national level, this game did lose some of it's luster with UNC struggling so much. I think Mike is just reflecting what the national audience thought of this game.

I could care less though, it was big to me. I'd also bet anything that Wilbon tuned in despite the lack of luster.
