Thanks for the link. I was wondering about this year's Senior Class Award... especially with all of the attention that Jon's been getting. I just voted, Jon's in the lead... gotta keep this going :) They tell you to "vote again tomorrow".

From an email I got from Duke. You know what to do!

Lowes Senior Class Award

Senior standouts Joy Cheek and Jon Scheyer were both named as finalists for the Lowe's Senior CLASS Awards. To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence - classroom, character, community and competition.

Part of the voting is by fans. Fans can vote by going online or text messaging their vote once a day through March 22nd. VOTE TODAY!

TO VOTE FOR JOY CHEEK:

The UNC fans are "stuffing the ballot box" for Kramer per the IC board.

RockLobster

Well, I suppose that's why fan balloting only counts for 1/3rd of the vote. Don't they have anything better to do?

Well, I suppose that's why fan balloting only counts for 1/3rd of the vote. Don't they have anything better to do?

Well they have been trashing their own players for the last few weeks, so I guess they got tired of that and decided the only thing that could make them happy would be some good ole Duke hating. I don't think any amount of Duke hating will be a cure for this season though.

KenTankerous

I'm not a fan of poll skewing as I think we should be more democratic and let the people's voice be heard. But by damnit, Jon is the definition of the Lowe's Senior Class Award and I'm thinking of renting a few laptops just to have extra IP addresses on which to vote for Jon.

Vote early, vote often.

No longer sticky. But everyone here had better remember to vote every day. There's simply no way we should allow the Purdue fans (with help from the Heels) to push Kramer to the top. Let's go!

just wanted to point out that the original text information listed to vote for jon is incorrect. the actual way to vote for him is to text M9 to 74567. you can do that once per day in addition to voting from your computer(s) once per day.

we've got an uphill battle in the voting, but i'm taking solace in the fact that there's no way the media and coaches will choose kramer. so if jon can at least finish second in the voting, that should help his overall cause.

I'm voting from home and work every day. I encourage everyone to vote as much as possible. Having said that, I will point out that the voting only counts for 1/3 of the award (the other 2/3 is coaches and media members). We lost a poll-skewing battle in 2008 when Chris Lofton beat out Demarcus Nelson in the Senior CLASS voting. And yet, Vandy's Shan Foster won the award.

So keep voting, but don't lose heart!

What can we do to get more support? We're dealing with the combo of Purdue+UNC fans (and maybe other Duke haters) skewing for Kramer. Can we recruit Indiana fans against Kramer? Do we just need a really good viral campaign? Some sort of Facebook group that targets Duke students and alums? I'm not good with stuff like this, but someone must have an idea.

Does anyone know how the score is kept for this award? I can't find it anywhere on the site. I realize fan voting only plays a part, and there are other factors. What I don't know is if there is consideration given for say, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in fan voting or all that matters is first place. I have tried to remember to vote everyday, but it seems as though Jon might be locked into 2nd place. If second place means something that it is worth it to keep voting just to assure that he doesn't fall any lower.

livehead16

Jon's percentage points have crept up a tiny bit in the past couple of days, which is the first time they've increased in about two weeks. Hopefully the heel fans are getting tired of voting - I'm of the opinion that it's harder to sustain the effort to vote every single day when you're doing it out of spite than when you're doing it for positive reasons.

Also, I was able to get an answer from the award folks on an end date - voting goes through March 22nd. So we've got a long way to go, but that gives us a better chance to outlast the haters.

I've voted for Jon.

At the same time, the inner social scientist in me found it interesting that half of the ten finalists are white (which seemed high), but then I read that almost 40% of NCAA basketball players are white (which also seemed high), and given graduation rates and the fact that the best players (most of whom are African American) are gone by senior year, the 5/10 thing didn't strike me as especially racial, though I was also struck that the white players have received over 70% of the online voting despite being only 50% of the group. Perhaps the whole thing is unremarkable, but, if I were African American, I might be tempted to remark on it (well, I guess I've been tempted to remark on it already) and stick it in the file folder under "society remains racially polarized even though the data aren't crystal clear."

I have been voting by text and internet for about a week now and it does not seem to be helping. I can't imagine there are that many people voting for Kramer?

I can't imagine there are that many people voting for Kramer?

Purdue has 31,000+ undergrads. (For the record, I'm still voting for Jon daily.)

If we continue to vote as often as we can Jon has a chance whether or not he wins this poll. The poll only counts for one third in the selection process. Does anybody how other two thirds are applied?

We've only got to do this for one more week, folks. C'mon, we can't give up on our favorite clutch shooter now, can we?

Good bumpin'. Let's hope that Jon get a chance to show he deserves this award in a head-to-head with Kramer. (Although if some lower seed other than A&M wanted to sneak through, I'd be OK with that too.)

We can make up 2% a day if everyone votes every day! C'mon!

FWIW, I voted via text this morning, and got the response that my vote for Jon had counted. So even though the voting has ended online, you might try the text method and see what happens.

Congratulations to De'Sean Butler for winning the Lowe's Senior Class Award (http://www.seniorclassaward.com/). Apparently, it was just awarded/announced on Saturday. I'm sure many of us heard it mentioned during the Final Four game.

I'm disappointed that all of our voting efforts didn't help Jon get the award, but I'm not surprised. The voting doesn't really seem to mean much, despite what the website says. I know Jon would trade team success for the award any day.
