Awkward, yet hilarious.

The fun starts at around 0:50.

I actually feel bad for the guy. It's a common way to refer to scorers in the game of basketball.

At least he caught it immediately.

The whole Gilbert Arenas fiasco puts this in perspective, doesn't it?

The first thought I had was this comment is very Gilbertesque.

Hard to avoid it...

We shot well tonight.

He is a sharpshooter.

They are bombing from outside.

The shots did not hit their marks.

He rifled that pass.

....or, you know, four of his own players getting arrested on weapons charges on new years day.

Tyler Smith dismissed from the team:

How can a second semester senior still need 12 courses to graduate?

Good news for the the Wiz viz: Bullets, Smith will certainly go undrafted and will be availble as a free agent. They will need to reload after the loss of Arenas and Crittendon. I hear they have been scouting Smith because he gets high on his drives and because he is known for his driving and shooting.

This article (http://www.sportingnews.com/college-basketball/article/2010-01-08/tennessee-forward-tyler-smith-kicked-off-team) says he only needs 12 credits to graduate which makes a lot more sense. Although nothing official has been said, he was supposedly the owner of the two guns in the car. I am curious to see what happens to the other 3 players.

Perhaps they should also go after his cousin - Wesson? I hear he is a high caliber player.

Love it! :D Although I doubt Pearl does.

They really can't go after Wesson, he's too big a bore.

They need to set their sights lower, find a rangey type, stay on target.

And he's still fairly young...probably 22? :D

I really do like Pearl, though. Seems like a good guy.

You do shoot from the hip, don't you?

I like Bruce Pearl - any coach that paint his chest to attend one of the women's basketball games wins brownie (Browning?) points in my book.

Us lawyers shoot from the lip

So if this is the second issue with Smith that Bruce has dealt with, does that make him ...

wait for it ...

a "Pearl handled revolver?"

sorry

Are you my brother? This exchange definitely reminds me of some family phone calls.

Don't be sorry - nothing better than a fun with puns. I may have to pull out a book I have - Get Thee to a Punnery - for a refresher course.

The 12 classes was part of Tyler's quote, supposedly. It's always possible that each class is 1 unit (which is the way Duke was and probably still is). As we all know, education isn't what's most important for Tenn. major sports student/athletes.
