" Duke’s Jon Scheyer has been named ACC Player of the Week, while Wake Forest’s C.J. Harris earned ACC Rookie of the Week honors.

Scheyer averaged 28.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, 8.5 assists and 1.5 steals while leading Duke to wins over Gardner-Webb and No. 15 Gonzaga. The Northbrook, Ill., native shot 64.0 percent (16-of-25) from the field, 69.2 percent (9-of-13) from three-point range and 93.8 percent (15-of-16) from the foul line for the week."

If Scheyer stays healthy all year, doesn't go through a major slump, and doesn't make the All-Acc 1st team, there needs to be an investigation.

At this rate of production yes, but we haven't played a conference game yet, so we shouldn't give out the awards just yet, or begin any investigations yet. ;)

What's really crazy is that none of the major media outlets (ESPN, CBS, SI) gave Scheyer any due whatsoever as one of the top players of the week last week. They list all sorts of other guys with solid stats, but Scheyer probably had a more impressive week than any of them when you look at the all-around numbers. Not even a mention. Unbelievable.

Those numbers are just nasty. Heck, they would still be nasty if he were playing for a 2-A high school in the middle of nowhere rather than high-major college basketball....

Interestingly enough, as jumbo pointed out on another thread, Scheherazade has actually improved over the last half of the season the past two seasons. If that trend continues then we'll be talking about jon as a npoy candidate, much less first team acc

I'm glad to see that we are still alarmingly unathletic ;)

Right now Scheyer has surpassed Singler as Duke's ACC Player of the Year candidate. If he keeps playing like he is is Nation Player of the Year out of the question?

If Jon averages the same numbers for the course of the year (somewhat unlikely) he would have to get consideration for All-ACC certainly and most likely All-American. If his numbers improve in absolute terms or relative to others' numbers I don't think that it would hyperbole to put him in ACC POY or NPOY discussions.
I mention numbers b/c that is largely what the voters vote on, but Jon makes Duke a better team in ways that numbers don't measure, he's got intangibles in other words, that deserve respect too. If Duke ends up with a great record this year, I think Jon will get a lot credit and he will get lots of award considerations.
