Not much to say after a blowout like last night's. Obviously, virtually everyone had ridiculous plus/minus numbers. Zoubek's really stand out, though. The lineups were interesting, too -- Duke went big for the first time in a while, with Thomas or Kelly at the 3 and Singler playing some 2. And it's a good thing that Czyz only got 2 minutes; otherwise, apparently, Duke would have lost by 140 points.

Anyway, on to the numbers ...

Despite his many detractors, Z's plus/minus numbers almost always stand out. Personally I don't think it's a coincidence.

I don't know that it was necessarily Olek's fault, but during the two minutes he played, the team looked absolutely awful on defense, giving up a series of uncontested layups. And since the rest of that lineup was apparently Nolan, Andre, Lance, and Miles, in retrospect I'm not sure what was going on there (in other words, maybe it did have something to do with Olek).

...
Davidson-Dawkins-Kelly-Mason-Miles 7-0 (+7)

Scheyer-Smith-Kelly-Mason-Zoubek 6-0 (+6)

Smith-Singler-Kelly-Mason-Zoubek 4-4 (+0)

Scheyer-Dawkins-Kelly-Mason-Zoubek 5-7 (-2)

Interesting how much Kelly played as the third biggest player out there.

On a couple of plays, Olek lost his man, leading directly to lay-ups- I think that was why he came out so quickly. He is really trying hard, but his feel for where he needs to be is just not real strong yet. I hope he figures it out, as he could have a great niche at Duke as a rebounding -defensive specialist, and he clearly has some of the key skills needed.
