JaMarcus Russell

Has there ever been a unanimous player of the game before?

The crazy white dude that was tearing it up in front of the camera the whole game.

Yup. But when was the last time a Duke player had an individual performance like this one? Probably J.J. or Shelden. Simply amazing. Is it bad that I was hoping he could stay in there just a bit longer to get to 40 and 10?

Jon Scheyer from Chi-town no doubt, if there was ever a time for a unanimous decision for MOTM it should be this game.

Careers highs would be harder to get in the future had he gotten a 40 and 10.

Gotta go with Zoubek with a gritty effort. Or maybe Mason with that slick spin move...

Personally, I get a little anxious when we are up by 40 and starters are still in the game. Sorry.

jon obviously had the best performance on the court, but let's give it up to andre dawkins for showing a lot of courage tonight.

I was hoping for the tripple/double more then the 40/10. Oh well, great perfomance.

No offense to those voting for someone other than Jon, and I do get the sentiment for another player, but...

I honestly thought we'd have a unanimous vote this time. Jon was just amazing tonight!

No doubt that Jon was the mvp of this game, but I voted for Andre. Must have been tough for him to compete. But playing basketball is probably good therapy for him. Jon had one of the best games of any player at Duke and looked so smooth doing it. Go Jon and Go Duke!

Dawkins for playing with a heavy heart.
Singler for playing through physical pain yet still being in the right spot every time under the basket.
Mason for showing in flashes that with time, he could well be a monster...who can also dribble!

And of course Jon for showing us that his four years have been simply outstanding.

if he had a vote would have voted for Andre as well. Kinda guy he is! Go Duke!

Notice when Jon was out that the offense seemed to rachet down a notch. I don't think we have another real point guard on the team.

The craziest thing is that Scheyer only took 13 field goal attempts to score his 36 points. 13! Can anyone remember the last time somebody put up so many shots on so few shots?

I think JJ had 41 on 13 shots in one game - either Texas or UVA, I forget. Someone will have it soon...

One of JJ's 40-point perfomances. I cant remember who, but i do remember him putting up 40+ on like 15 FGA. Maybe it was the Texas game?

JJ Redick scored 40 points on only 13 shots I believe vs Virginia. The greatest individual Duke performance I have ever seen.

Maybe G last year at home against Wake. 35 pts against a top ten team. But point taken. Incredible job by Jon.

i agree. jon's outstanding performance really overshadowed how poorly nolan played with the ball tonight. the more we see him play the point the more he looks like a off-guard rather than a point guard.

36 points out from just 13 shots? thats like having only enough oil for one night and having it last eight! it's a hanukkah miracle!

I didn't realize that he had 8 boards too! And he only played 30 minutes -- he really could have done 40/10/10. WOW!

Actually, I thought it was really cool after Jon made that behind-the-back pass that the camera went to his parents. That move could become their most exciting single memory of Jon's personal Duke bball career. They were really excited about it, as was I.:D

Zoubek showed real flexibility through his ribs and his spin and it manifest in all aspects of his game. He caught it on balance with soft hands and arms and options, his timing and awareness were excellent, as was his patience. Getting his baskets at the rim are extremely valuable.

Scheyer was great as were the Plumblees. Oh, MOTHM, Scheyer, no question.

I'm liking what I see from this kid Kelly. Dawkins it goes without saying, but you watch, Kelly is going to hurt people more and more not just off his passes, but off the bounce and shoot which is coming soon.

Thank you all for my morning chuckle. Fantastic game for Jon and it was nice to see the shot of his parents watching the game as well.

I agree about Kelly. He's going to be a gem. I saw him get beat once but recovered and I think blocked the shot. Seems to be hesitant to take his shoot though. Seems to defer to others sometimes even when he's open. I suspect this will change over time as he gains his and coach's confidence.

Jon. Wow, oh wow!

And can Mason run the floor!

Andre. God bless.

If we get someone from the UNC School of Journalism to tally the votes, they can just arbitrarily and without permission change all our votes to Jon so it's unanimous.

I don't think there's any question that Scheyer was the player of the game. He had clearly his best performance at Duke and one of the (if not the) best all around individual statistical performance in a game at Duke in memory. Kudos to him for a wonderful night.

I'd also like to compliment Zoubek on a terrific game as well. This was probably the best he's played since the Maryland game last year when considering the lack of turnovers and fouls. Really good game from him. If I had two votes, he'd get my second vote.

There were a couple of nice signs from the Plumlees and Kelly. All are still very much a work in progress. Hopefully with time they get better and better. The Plumlees will need to rebound better than they did last night obviously (4 rebounds in 34 minutes), but they did do a number of good things as well (efficient scoring, 6 assists, 4 blocks).

Don't they spell it "Skool of publishing whatever we are told by the UNC AD to say?"

I wanted to vote for Andre, for just being able to step on a court so soon after his sister died, but then he also played an excellent game. So kudos to Andre. Jonīs game was just too overwhelming not to vote for him.
