After reading the story about Digg.com I started thinking about all the websites that I don’t know about. I use to be a serious web surfer, but since I morphed into a corporate-drone, I tend to visit the same 8-10 sites everyday. Boring!

Today I learned about:
www.borowitzreport.com
www.instapundit.com/
http://blog.digg.com/

Interesting stuff. I’ll look into adding them to my “Daily Routine”

So… share a few interesting/cool sites in your “Daily Routine” with the rest of us. No need to put ESPN or CNN. Give us something interesting.

Here are my 3 sites:
http://community.livejournal.com – I’ve joined 3-4 music related communities to talk about and share music
http://www.gawker.com - NYC related gossip & news (loosely)
http://www.theonion.com – My favorite fake news site

Like I said... I haven't been that adventurous on the net in the past few years. Heh.

sepinwall.blogspot.com -- best TV recaps/reviews on the net, especially the Sopranos and the Wire.

www.abovethelaw.com - if you are a lawyer, it's good (sometimes not clean) fun.

www.edsbs.com -- best college football blog on the planet and I'm not even a gators fan.

Here are the sites I open in my "morning read" tabs on Firefox (quick plug - firefox kicks IE but)

www.news.google.com
www.slashdot.org
www.lifehacker.com

I also have a tech-centered read I do every couple of days:

www.engadget.com
www.autobloggreen.com
www.gottabemobile.com

And my guilty pleasures, the tabloid blogs I go to once or twice a week:

www.egotastic.com
www.idontlikeyointhatway.com
www.justjared.com

And many more that are irregular visits. I spend way too much time online

http://www.drudgereport.com/ -- general news site
http://www.slashdot.org/ -- nerd news site
http://www.engadget.com/ -- nerd blog (pretty sure it's maintained by NCSU grads (http://www.engadget.com/2007/04/05/insideoutside-garb-alerts-you-of-uncomfortable-areas/))
http://www.gizmodo.com/ -- nerd blog (Gawker)
http://www.consumerist.com/ -- consumer blog (Gawker)
http://www.jalopnik.com/ -- car blog (Gawker)
http://www.autoblog.com/ -- car blog
http://www.kotaku.com/ -- game blog

and dbr of course... I keep them in a bookmark folder, and middle click in a fresh browser, and I get them all in a tabbed format. I used to read yahoo weird news but enough people IM me at work whenever interesting stuff pop up, so I don't need to any more.

I'll repost my reply that was in the other threat with the same title:

Borowitzreport.com is best served as a weekly visit, as it is usually only updated once a week with a new column.

For the sports nuts www.deadspin.com always has cool stories and blogs, and they also have an uncanny ability to link to some of the funniest videos on the web.

My daily fav's (in addition to DBR, of course):

http://www.makezine.com/ Their blog is full of strange and cool projects that are kind of techie-geeky-crafty projects. Their sister publication, http://www.craftzine.com/ is fun, too, but not as cool as Make. Both of these have an RSS feed that I've turned into a live button on my Firefox toolbar, so it's easy to check them several times a day.

http://www.slickdeals.net/ Great place to find great deals, particularly around the holidays.

And once a week, I check out http://www.greyswriters.com/, the Grey's Anatomy writers blog. Don't read it until after you've watched the episodes.

I use google reader to pull all my blogs together on one page. And if you get through this list, you will probably understand why I need google reader.

http://www.joystiq.com (video game blog)
http://www.engadget.com (tech blog)
http://www.bossip.com (black pop culture -- but no, I am not black)
http://www.fark.com (news snippet site)
http://www.newyorker.com (they have multiple rss feeds on whatever you want - i choose the arts and humor sections)
http://www.deadspin.com (sports blog)
http://www.tvsquad.com (tv blog)
http://www.digg.com (user-powered content web site where top stories get pushed up via "diggs" - probably my favorite web site)
TrueHoop on ESPN (for my pro basketball fix)
Bill Simmons on ESPN (the Sports guy who I am sure most DBRers know)
http://www.wonkette.com (political humor/satire/news blog in DC)
http://www.slate.com (e-zine, good guest writers)

I pretty much start my morning with those (I come in an hour early to compensate) and then eventually make my way to stocks and DBR to round out my day.

Hah, a VERY close friend of mine did Wonkette for a while, but has since moved on.

My sites are nowhere near as smart as all of yours!

www.mustangforums.com (cars)
forum.thelordz.co.uk (a napoleonic wargame I helped make)
cnn.com

And a few not safe for work ones:)

I'll see your Google Reader and raise you NetNewsWire on my MacBook Pro. I have around 50 feeds that it consumes for me, and I pop open a new tab in Firefox for every article that looks like it deserves reading. I try to prune things down during the week, but there's no way I can keep up. By the weekend I typically have over 100 tabs open, so I take a few hours on the weekend to trim off 90 of those.

Digg is on my list, but the majority of my feeds are super nerdy. I have a subscription to every feed at ArsTechnica -- it's a fantastic site for anything tech related, with mini-sites for different niches (one for gaming, one for Microsoft, one for Apple).

Has anyone else gotten into the LOLcraziness (aka image macros (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image_macro))? (LOLCats (http://www.icanhascheezburger.com/), LOLBots (http://lolbots.com/), LOLCode (http://lolcode.com/)?)

Has LOLling "jumped the shark (http://www.flickr.com/photos/bethgo/530605258/)" in its brief, 1+week run of fame?

I know it happened to Twittering-turned-Twitter-Hating (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/18445274/)in the span of about a month.

How do average folk, without a household full of IMing teens, find out about these flash-trends? Any web site favorites around this?

I'm not really a website cruiser. #1 is DBR -- check it almost every day. Another favorite is craigslist.org. Always something of interest there for me. Once a week or so, I check out perezhilton.com. Usually fun and outrageous. Otherwise, there's nothing else.
