Brees > Brady

After just 3 more Super Bowls victories! (But he sure looked better than Tom last night)

they don't have a defense.

The way the Saints went through the Patriots defense was amazing. At one point Brees was averaging 21 yards per attempt. It *only* ended up at 16 or so because they were playing some ball control in the 4th quarter.

The Saints looked like the Patriots looked a few years ago... as a guy who is a card carrying member of the "I hate the Patriots" fan club (and who needed Tom Brady to score less than 14 fantasy points last night) it was a pleasure to watch :).

I'm not really interested in who played with a better defense eight years ago.

Brees > Brady.

...like I was playing in their secondary.

Whew, did Brees rip off huge chunks of yards or what?!?!

I am rooting for a Colts - Saints Super Bowl. What is the over-under on that game? 50? 55? Whichever Hall of Fame QB has their hands on the ball last, wins.

When the Patriots won 3 super bowls, their offense was young and their defense was experienced.

The last few years, when the Patriots have come close but lost big games (AFC CG in 06 after a big lead, Giants in 07), their defense has been too old and slow.

The Patriots are in a transition year on defense (lots of young players) while still being relative studs on offense.

It's hard to maintain a decade of dominance without undergoing a transition year or two on one side of the football.

[It's amazing how close line has been for the Patriots between a) winning only one or no super bowls and b) winning 5 or 6 [the 6 if brady wasn't hurt last year]

In terms of what? Last night's game? This season? 07 Pats vs 09 Saints?
Career?

Last night's game? Absolutely. Any other measuring stick? No way.

Heck, Brady was better earlier this month when they played the Colts.

Not career. But Brees does appear to be having the better season (http://www.nfl.com/stats/categorystats?tabSeq=0&statisticCategory=PASSING&season=2009&seasonType=REG).

Er, no. Though both were great, 29 of 42 for 375 yards, three touchdowns and one interception is not better than than 18 of 23 for 371 yards, five touchdowns and no interceptions.

To be fair, Brady *was* facing a better team than Brees was last night.

Poorly coached.

I'm amazed at how the Patriots, especially on the road against the Jets, Broncos, Colts and Saints, looked confused, disorganized and unsure of themselves. For example, think about the last possession against the Colts when they had to use two timeouts. Last night there were HUGE missed defensive assigments. At times they have had horrible clock management.

This is not what you'd expect from a Bill Belichick coached team.
