Interesting (but not surprising to me) that Vince Oghobaase was not on the list. I know he is the one getting the most talk about playing on Sunday, but I thought Rey had the better season and definitely is worthy of the All-ACC. Big huge fat congrats to Snyderwine...what a way for a walk-on to be honored. I'm sure he's getting a scholarship next year, he's more than earned it.

I'm guessing the nagging injury that has plagued Vince these last few weeks may have had something to do with it.

Yeah and how bout Snyderwine. Feels great for us to be able to put some faith in our special teams this year.

VO's injury torpedoed his All-ACC aspirations. Same thing happened to Christian Ponder.

Interesting how many ties.

Looking forward to the day Duke get's more than one or two defensive players on this list. I do remember the day. Congratulations to this years players. Go Duke!

I was surprised that Leon Wright didn't make the team...he has been a beast all season. The other guys that made the team were absolutely well-deserved.

VO and Wright were named honorable mention.

Is anyone surprised at how few votes Thad got? Clearly votes for QB must have been spread out quite a bit, but apparently a majority of voters didn't even put him on their 2nd team ballot...I know winning counts, but seriously?

That said, congrats to all our guys that made it, certainly well deserved.

Making second-team QB is quite an accomplishment for Thad. The ACC was loaded at that position this year. Christian Ponder, Riley Skinner, Russell Wilson, Jacory Harris, Chris Turner, Tyrod Taylor, and Kyle Parker all had seasons that in the past were rewarded with All-ACC recognition.

Look at someone like Parker, who no one thought was All-ACC caliber. Yet he passed for 2294 yards, with 19 touchdowns. And he was in the second tier of the league's starting QBs.

So, second team for Lewis is pretty impressive.

So, no all freshmen ACC team for Vernon I guess? Congrats to Thad, Donovan, Will and Vinnie. I'm glad we have 4 guys on the team. Hope to have more next year.

Leon not being there surprises me the most. If Vernon continues with these kind of seasons we will see him making first team.

"So, no all freshmen ACC team for Vernon I guess?"

There is no all freshman All-ACC team for football.

In some years, Vernon could have won the freshman offensive player of the year award. But Ryan Williams was a no-brainer this year.

I disagree with Nesbitt being 1st team QB. I know his rushing stats were great and that is what got him the award, but I feel both Thad and Skinner were more deserving. I base the individual award like these on the performance of the individual moreso than what his team did. Ga Tech having the best overall record had to have swayed that vote.

Other than that pick I agree with all the rest. Congrats to the Duke guys, especially Snyderwine. He had a great year, walkon or otherwise. The kick he made on Saturday against Wake was incredible.

The Georgia Tech comments reminded me of the amazing dropped pass that All-ACC 1st team WR Demaryius Thomas had against Georgia to end the Yellow Jackets chances in that game. I guess that could happen to anybody, but what a terrible time in his last home game, against their instate rival.

Well, I guess he'll get a chance to redeem himself against Clemson.

Congrats to the Duke players honored.

I thought about that too Roy. Ga Tech played stupid football on that last drive. They had plenty of time and were moving the ball down the field with ease. Then for some maddening reason, the 1st team QB selection throws the home run ball on 1st, 2nd, and 3rd down!! With a minute and half still left on the clock! I was befuddled. Then they run the perfect play on 4th down and he drops it. That should have been the call on either 2nd or 3rd down.

C.J. Spiller, Heisman candidate, 2nd team - behind Dwyer and Williams??? No respect for the Tigers. Wonder what Spiller could have done in the GT backfield?

Some random thoughts.

I agree that GT's play-calling at the end of the UGA game was bizarre. But I suspect the blame lies with the coaches not Nesbitt.

One argument for Nesbitt is his success running the triple-option offense. Making the right choice doesn't always show up on the stat sheet but it helps teams win games. And team success usually figures in as a tie-breaker.

Spiller was first-team as a specialist and I think that factors into his Heisman appeal. I fully expect Spiller to be named ACC Offensive Player of the Year.

Yeah, as a pure running back, there are other guys you can vote ahead of CJ. I think he averaged around 70 rushing ypg, which is unspectacular. The Heisman-contention comes from his versatility- he's as much of a weapon as a receiver and even more so on special teams. He got the awards he deserved, imo and this is coming from a Clemson guy.

For those in doubt, and this is just my opinion, Spiller's impact on special teams is the main reason he is a "Heisman candidate." He's a great offensive weapon obviously, but on STs he is just unbelievable. Teams literally cannot kick to him. I think it was the NCST game where they just refused to kick him the ball, and as a result, Clemson started in State territory for the majority of the game (without having any big kick/punt returns). The impact he makes, even without touching the ball, is unbelievable. I really haven't seen anything quite like it.
