Gotta give Tara Vanderveer credit for not backing down. The Stanford women play Duke, Tennessee, and UConn in consecutive games in December.

The Duke - Stanford game is December 15 at Maples. Dukies in the Bay Area should move fast on tickets, as Maples is even smaller than Cameron.

We play both teams too, the only one not on our schedule this year is Tennessee. We also have Ohio State, unc twice, and of course the rest of the ACC, which IMO is the toughest conference in women's basketball. It's not suicide, it's preparation.

The top schools play each other because it's the only way to sell a bunch of tickets and get some money for the sport and the college.

Duke also plays at Texas A&M, plays Marquette on a neutral court and has USC at home. CT, OSU, Stanford and UNC (if Breland can play; if not then in the top 10) will all be ranked in the top 5; Duke, most likely, has the toughest schedule in the country. Still, some fans will complain if the ladies lose 6 or more regular season games.

If you want to take a look at some cupcake schedules try MD. UNC is not much better but they do play CT, MSU and an improving South Carolina.

We also had one of the toughest last year. It didn't necessarily pay off in the long run, but I appreciate the challenges the team faces in the regular season. It sure makes for better basketball from a fan perspective.
