The Miami Herald had the following on Shavlik in today's edition:

RANDOLPH'S IMPRESSION

Earning the Heat's 15th and final roster spot has been a process four years in the making for forward Shavlik Randolph.

Although he played a total of only 38 minutes over five preseason games and failed to make a field goal, Randolph left a lasting impression on Spoelstra in his performance against Miami during his rookie season in Philadelphia.

Randolph, undrafted out of Duke in 2005, had eight points and 10 rebounds for the 76ers during a Dec. 16, 2005, loss to the Heat. Spoelstra made several references to that performance during training camp.

``It's definitely a big deal any time you're not under a guaranteed contract,'' Randolph said of exiting the preseason with a roster spot. ``You never feel safe until you know. I feel safe for the time being.''
