I know a lot of people will be following Gerald Henderson this season. Additionally, he should be getting some considerable playing time on the Bobcats.

I figured it might be a good idea to start a thread on Henderson's imminent success.

Here's an article about his first game and Shaq introducing him to the NBA:

“Kids coming from (Duke), they've been coached,” Brown said.

Larry Brown knows what's up :D

Great thread.

agreed, I'm sure Hansbrough is getting the same treatment while he's not finding dogs for little girls

With all of the Dukies on the team, Dunleavy thinks we'll be hearing Hansbrough sing the Duke fight song at least once this season.

I wonder why they are questioning his perimeter shot in the first article. It seemed to becoming along just fine last year.:)

Henderson turns in a near-perfect night. 7 of 8 from the field and 14pts

And as the article says, Raja Bell may be done for the year... that could mean a significant increase in playing time for G.

he should be starting, but larry brown dont know squat about talent. he gonna have henderson riding the pine.

I'm betting Bell opts against surgery and gets back on the court soon. G's performance last night can only help him get more PT, though, especially with the Bobcats thin at SG.

Brown has his issues, but recognizing talent isn't one of them.

the poster right above this one is right - brown is an excellent talent evaluator. his one big flaw is that in the past he has no faith in rookies or other young players. you can argue that g won't play much because of this, but i think since larry basically got to pick g himself, g is gonna he his fair share of minutes, especially with raja out.

I would offer that his big flaw is that, after a couple of years with a team, the players hate him and he absolutely despises them.

Fortunately for Brown, there are many teams.

Yeah, Augustyn didn't seem to have much trouble getting minutes last year. I agree Brown favors veterans over younger players, but he's not totally inflexible, and if Bell is out for long he's really not going to have any choice but to give G minutes.

Raja Bell and vlad radmanovic just got shipped to Golden State for PG Acie Law and the #1 guy you don't want to meet in a back alley/ good basketball player Stephen Jackson.

Should be interesting to see if this will effect Henderson's current spot at the end of the bench.

Stephen Jackson is more of a scorer, while Raja Bell's strength was defense. Perhaps if G can demonstrate the excellent defense he showed in college, he'll earn some PT in order to make up what the team lost. I think a lot will also depend on Jackson's attitude, it sounds like he wasn't too thrilled about being traded to the Bobcats (not that anyone could blame him).

Don't think so. Brown's just being Brown. Hendo will get his chance but probably not in the first half of this NBA season.
