Hairston (too high) and Smith (too low) are skewed by an outlier, and coincidentally, the outlier in both cases is Bob Gibbons's All Star Report -- he has Hairston at 7 and Smith at 60, which is way out of line with all the other ratings. Not saying whether he's right or wrong, just pointing out the averages are skewed.

You two are both right... Bob Gibbons does have Joshua Hairston at #7. But RSCI has Barton #7 overall.

RSCI = A site that takes all the recruiting experts and combines their ranking into one big average. One site just had Hairston that high.

he's also very high (or low depending on your perspective) on fab melo. funny, of the 5 guys in the top 30 with deviations greater than 13, 4 are due to gibbons.

I feel like no one ever mentions Perry Jones (at least on this board) because he's already committed to Baylor, but he definitely deserves his ranking (#4).

He's listed between 6'9"-6'11" and he's fairly skinny, but runs the floor like a guard. He's a great leaper. From what I've seen, he reminds me of a more mobile version of Mason Plumlee. I think Mason has a better jumper though.

As has been commented on previously, national recruiting services are prone to be influenced by:

a. Top programs recruiting players not otherwise highly rated.

b. Other recruiting services.

These are natural phenomena from small entities -- a couple of guys, really -- trying to cover an entire country. They are going to use all the info available, including stuff from their competitors.

Looks like Bob Gibbons isn't doing that, at least the part (b) stuff. We, of course, know he is in the tank for UNC.;)

Wonder if Thornton was close to getting in the Top 100?

Yep. Top 3 in NBA Draft next year without a doubt in my mind. He's just an athletic beast.
