After much consideration and conversation among the mods and the owners of DBR, we have agreed that the PPB no longer fits into the DBR mission of fostering thoughtful conversation about Duke and establishing a close-knit community of Duke fans.
Perhaps, if the PPB had been much more civil, it could have served the same role as the Off-Topic board of building community. But the reality of the situation is that the emotions folks feel about politics, religion, and other policy issues made it a divisive and acrimonious place, despite many requests for civility.
So we are eliminating the PPB board. If you wish to argue about public policy topics we urge you to find some other place to have those conversations; the interwebs are full of such sites. Any public policy conversations posted on the Off-Topic board will be very closely monitored and will be held to a much higher standard of discourse than the PPB was.
