Hey guys,

I'm looking to go to the Boost Mobile Elite 24 game at Rucker Park in NYC this Friday to see Barnes, Irving, and the rest of the nations top recruits. Has anybody here gone to this game in years past and does anybody have any information about this event? Would I be able to get in? Are there tickets that need to be purchased in advance? Any information is greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance-

Tyler

Looks like you can just show up, but I don't know as I've ever never been there...

A write-up would be appreciated, especially on our targets. Austin Rivers, Kyrie Irving, Harrison Barnes, Josh Smith, Roscoe Smith, Terrence Jones.

Thanks.

Hey thanks for that info. I was not aware it was on TV. I will definitely check it out.

A lot of Duke prospects in that game, should be fun to watch...

Thanks for the info. I plan on leaving my house around 5 am, getting there around 830, and waiting in line all day to hopefully get a seat. I be sure to follow up on this thread and give a link to a photo album.

Here is more from the event.

HB: Ready to start in the NBA RIGHT NOW
Irving: Smooth
CJ Leslie: Freak Athlete (I won't be shocked when he ends up at UNC. No evidence, just a completely unsupported gut feeling)

Roscoe Smith: Stephen Jackson level athlete

Good stuff.

I guess Roscoe Smith hit a 3 to win that scrimmage.

I wish people would stop encouraging HB to go to the NBA

Its not like it makes one bit of difference. For one, its not like he's thinking about jumping to the NBA right now; he has to go to college for a year and then evaluate his options, and that won't occur for another 18+ months so I dont think it matters what people are suggesting he should do now.

Much more importantly, this guy clearly has a good head on his shoulders and isn't and won't be influenced by "the crowd." He's gonna do what he and his family think is best for HB.

Totally agree. I was definitely being sarcastic. The kid won't even claim a nickname for god's sake. He wants to earn it. He's not going to do anything but the right thing, which is to come to Duke for 2-3 years, win 2-3 titles, make millions for 10 years, and come back to take the reins from K when he decides to retire.

Didn't realize you were being sarcastic. Secondly, those are some lofty expectations! But I'm fine with them :D

Game got moved from Rucker Park due to rain. Here's a couple videos:

http://www.twitvid.com/652FB

I've got two conflicting reports on the MVP, Tobias Harris is in both, with Kyrie Irving co-MVP in one and Doron Lamb in the other. Here's a great write-up:

http://www.zagsblog.com/2009/08/21/boost-mobile-selby-dunks-highlight-game/#more-21015

Roscoe Smith of Oak Hill added 22 points, Harrison Barnes of Ames (Iowa) High and Memphis-bound guard Will Barton of Brewster (N.H.) Academy had 18 apiece and Joe Jackson of Memphis White Station added 10.

For Goat, Kyrie Irving of Elizabeth (N.J.) St. Patrick and Myck Kabongo of Newark (N.J.) St. Benedict’s scored 16 apiece and C.J. Leslie and Syracuse-bound guard Dion Waiters tallied 15 apiece. Leslie added 11 rebounds.

My experience at the Boost Mobile Elite 24 Event.....

(for an abbreviated version of this story just read the bold)

My friend and I left from York, PA at about 430 in the morning so we could get there early and hopefully get front row seats. We arrived at about 930 and WE WERE THE FIRST ONES THERE. We hung out at the park for a while as cameramen came to set up for a photo shoot. The players arrived around 1030 for the photos and a shoot-around session. It was awesome seeing all the players close up and getting to talk to a few of them. Will Barton even came up and introduced himself after seeing my friend's Memphis shirt. The players left after about an hour and a half and we just sat around the park for the rest of the day until it was gametime. We got our seats (front row, right behind Jay Williams and the ESPN camera crew) at Rucker Park. The rain delayed the start of the the event for a while until they decided to cancel it and move it indoors to the nearby Goucho's Gym, which they stated had triple the capacity of Rucker Park. So we went over to the gym and got in line again. After about an hour of waiting and letting in lots of VIPs (ex. friends/family/Devin Ebanks) we were told that the gym was filled to capacity and we had to go home. WE DID NOT GET IN. Guess I'll be watching the game on ESPNU with the rest of you tonight. To boot, I got a $115 parking ticket.

That sucks tysi. At least you got to meet Will Barton :(

I've got some more bad news for you. After the game was moved, ESPN cameras didn't follow. The game won't be on tv either...

Because of the shift, the game won’t be shown on ESPNU Saturday night. Somebody made a bad decision by not moving this game to Fordham when the forecast called for thunder showers.

one thing to remember, of all the all star type games, this one, means nothing. It is a race horse, shoot first type scenario. Its nice our recruits did well but the outcome should not be considered imprtant. You would think ESPN would have had a better backup plan?

Slam Online Write-Up

I hear what you're saying Verga. It is still nice to see that all of our biggest targets that played in this game were some of the best out there. Kyrie, Harrison, and Roscoe Smith all showed up big against some really fine competition.
