Apparently Duke has expressed some interest in the seven foot center from Brazil. I believe Scout.com has pegged him as a 5 star center (#25 overall). He goes to Sagemont High School in Florida, and so far as I know, Fab is the only other high-major center Duke has looked in to besides Josh Smith (emphasis on "so far I know").

“I have not really added anyone new to my list. My offers still stand at Florida, FSU, UCONN, Louisville, Miami, Syracuse, and Texas. Recently, Duke has been evaluating me. I’m not sure what their future plans are with me.”

Also... just think about what the Cameron Crazies can do with that name! Anyways, I figured that if the recruit is commenting on Duke being involved, it might be time for a thread to be started.

Would that make the Blue Devils the new Fab Five?

His full name is Fabricio, which has a nice ring to it.

Recent article about Fab Melo:

http://highschool.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=963460

From the article:

"You just don't find that many big bodies who are as naturally talented offensively as de Melo," Rivals.com national recruiting analyst Jerry Meyer wrote. "He is in the same category as Al Jefferson and DeMarcus Cousins in terms of offensive skill level. There is still work to do defensively and as a rebounder, but the improvement is evident primarily because of a steady improvement in his conditioning. It also would be nice to see de Melo keep the ball higher after his rebounds."

Does anyone know how involved Duke has gotten with this guy?

Is that confirmed Supa?

Yes, it's on Rivals and ESPN.

I think he's going to be really good when he gets in shape. He has a nice jumper and good hands for a big man. He's also 7'0", 270 lbs, so that helps him.

Thanks guys. I went to scout and didn't see it wasn't up there yet...though I'm not a premium member.

Great get for Boeheim.

When they told Melo that the temperature gets down to zero, he must have been thinking Celsius rather than Farenheit.

I like Syracuse now that Devendorf is gone (that guy was a punk). Good job Boeheim! Fab Melo might take a year or two, but he'll be very good.

Hope Melo knows how to play a 2-3 zone because that's all he will do is stand under the basket in the zone. :D

Agreed with Bsim... That may be a good thing for him. I heard that he's not too developed skill wise, but his body speaks for itself. Good get for JB-I'd rather see Syracuse win that L'ville.
