So, I just saw the report on Goduke.com that Coach P hired a new assistant coach, Trisha Stafford-Odom. This sounds like a pretty good move to me from the report, it seemed to suggest she was instrumental in recruiting some great talent to UCLA (3rd ranked class nationally one year), as well as being a good resource for the guards to learn from. Anybody else know much beyond what the report said?

Anyway, it's nice to see we'll have what looks like a big gun when it comes to recruiting, hopefully that'll help things along, in addition to providing another source of knowledge in women's basketball for our team to learn from! :)

Thanks for the update M.H.. From what you've written, she sounds like a smart addition. Has she replaced anyone, or has P added a coach?

"During her years with UCLA, Stafford-Odom brought in the third-best recruiting class nationally, which was the Bruins’ top class in school history. She also worked with the perimeter players, did scouting and guided four UCLA student-athletes to WNBA Draft selections." ---That's great to read. It is nice to see someone brought in that seems to be strong at recruiting. Based on last years results, it looks like Coach P can coach reasonably well but the recruiting the last couple of seasons has not been very strong. And I don't care if you're the greatest coach in the world; if you don't have good talent to coach, you're going to have limited success. Let's coach Stafford-Odom starts reeling in some top notch talent!

She replaces Shannon Perry. No word on why Shannon is leaving. She was the only asst. to stay after G left.

The announcement obviously places great emphasis on recruiting and working with the guards, which are both key areas for WBB. I wish her every success.

Shannon Perry spent five years at Duke, but I always wondered why her photo didn't seem to be on the same page as the other coaches:

She was a very successful recruiter under Coach G, and I hope she finds another position soon.

Maybe it reflects the position on the totem pole for each -

K then

Collins & Wojo then

Nate?

And possible the same on the Women's listings?

Just a guess.

Yes, he and Collins are on the same row. It looks funny because of the large gap between them.
