In a game where each of the starters played at least 30 minutes, there aren't wild variations in plus/minus. Still, there a couple of things worth pointing out that might otherwise not get noticed in all the post-game discussion. First, Greg Paulus might not have seemed prominent in the game, but Duke did outscore Wake by seven when he was in there. Whether it was a matter of being on the floor at the right time or an affirmative response to his re-reduced role again, we don't know. But Duke did well when he was in there, and that was important, given Nolan Smith's foul trouble.

Secondly, Kyle Singler is certainly the one guy on the team who has nothing close to resembling a natural backup behind him. But Duke did a solid job when he was on the bench tonight, outscoring Wake 17-11. That's a good thing. Anyway, on to the numbers ...

Good point, Jumbo about Greg being effective despite the limited PT.

Another observation, perhaps also on the lucky side. Lance played great particularly on offensive boards on put backs. That was not luck butrahter effort,. Perhaps Chas MacFarland beig in constant foul trouble playing most of his limited 16 minutes with 4, made it more possible.

Normally Zoubelk would be a better match up for Chas than Lance or Dave.

I was somewhat surprised to see we were neutral ("+0")with the line-ups that did not include either Singler or Henderson. I know Coach K substitutes "by feel" but I am always nervous that we do not have enough offense in the game when they are on the bench at the same time. Jon having a really good game offensively helped in that regard.
