I think the Big East commissioner sent out a memo that the Big East teams need to help each other get into the NCAAs.

How else do you explain Notre Dame waxing Louisville and WVU doing the same to Villanova.

Probably the same way you explain Clemson and Miami beating Wake and Duke by 27. The ACC and Big East are competitive conferences. Villanova has been flying high and was due for an off night, WVU needed a win. Notre Dame has a ton of talent but has underperformed. They were desperate, and Louisville just had one of those nights...

but you do bring up a point that is the reason to love college bball. It is very unpredictable. Each team will have one of those nights at sometime during the year. Hopefuly Duke's only bad game was the Clemson game and UNC has yet to have their bad game.
