Trent Mackey Dismissed, Rendez James Suspended

Looks like we're down 1 (and possibly 2) players for next year. Mackey is gone, and James will miss spring practice and be evaluated before the fall. The positive is that it shows that Cutcliffe is requiring a level of discipline from the players.

Yeah, it's nice to see players held to a high standard, although we obviously don't want to see our players be suspended. I don't want to really speculate on the reasoning for the dismissal/suspension, but Mackey came into Duke with a 20 on the ACT. I'd imagine it's hard to keep up with Duke academics with that background and such a large time commitment from football...Perhaps he'll find a better fit somewhere else.

I also find it funny that the picture has Randez James with what looks like a Clemson paw...Although I assume his high school just stole Clemson's symbol/colors.

Freshman Linebacker Trent Mackey is now officially no longer enrolled at Duke. He played well at the LB Position.

The other player really hurts.

Randez James was one of our biggest recruits for this past year. He was a big 4-star DB out of Texas.

He did not get one snap the whole 2008 season, and his future at Duke will be decided after the spring semester.
