Since my wife doesn't read DBR, I can tell a malapropism that happened just the other day when we were watching a game on TV. mrsallenmurray, who is way smarter than am I, aksed during the game for an explanation of the difference between an intentional foul and a fragrant foul.

Given your profession, and the fact that you are also a basketball fan, perhaps you can enlighten me?

Apparently you do own some smarts of your own;)

Oh, and I am a 6th grade teacher. All subjects, so everything from writing an interesting, multi-dimensional character to the metacognitive strategies of reading to all the wars and horrific slaughter of people that makes Social Studies so much fun... and, of course, read-aloud, which is everyones favorite part of the day:)

Lol. Nothing, really. When I worked in tax, the clients loved us. When I worked in audit right when 404 was taking off, we were absolutely the last people the client wanted to see. (And they really didn't bother to hide it!) I once had a junior associate who was quite distressed about that - I told him that he just had to accept having joined the dark side. I hope I said it with the appropriate amount of humor. :)

My profession has nothing to do with the question but the definition of flagrant is : to be conspicuously evil. Therefore, one can assume a malevolent intention concerning the foul. The intentional foul is one given for the simple purpose of stopping the play, without intent of maybe causing physical harm.

I'm in the business of automotive logistics, related directly to the new vehicle market. Have mercy!

Over a 2 year period, I went out on 10 different boats, and spent over 200 days at sea. I once went out for 59 days straight, a feat much more difficult than you could imagine. Teaching is a great job. Before I taught I worked at Fox Sports for a while, wrote for the Hockey News a bit, worked on some sports books, worked as an agent for some NHL players, and finally as the GM for the minor league teams that operated out of Greensboro a few years back... and I'll tell you, I wouldn't give teaching up to go back to it for ANYTHING. Very very very rewarding job.

Preschool takes an awful lot of patience. Sixth grade, you just kind of growl at them a bit and they snap back into line quick... the little ones are crazy people:)

I've been lost, but I've never watched Lost.

I design professional development activities for teachers, and consult with teachers in the area of social development, as part of a research program into effective practices for students making the transition to early adolesence (otherwise known as Middle School, but we work primariloy in small rural schools that because of size follow a K-8 or K-12 model rather than a elementary/middle/high school model).

By these do you mean K-8 and K-12 schools? Still very common in small rural school systems, particularly in those states that are designed to have more than one school district per county, or in very small school districts (I work wth some districts that are as small as 150 students, kindergarten through twelfth grade).

Junior High was typically a grade 7-9 configuration. It was based on the high school model with kids having 7 distinct classes. The Midle School model differs in two ways. First, it is almost always a grade 6-8 model. More importantly, kids are usually grouped into "teams" so rather than travelling individually to seven different classes, kids travel as a "team", at least for all of their core classes. Teams are sometimes led by four teachers (Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies) or sometimes by two teachers (each of whom is qualified to teach two of the four subject areas). It makes it easier for these kids (particularly the 11 ansd 12 year olds) to feel more a part of a small unit, rather than like a lone individual in a large school. It also allows for joint planning among teachers of the same students.

Happy to help you out Wheat...Boca Grande is gorgeous, a beautiful barrier island community (BYOGC -bring your own golf cart) one of the few places on the Florida coast that has not turned in to a giant gift shop. It has been too long since Mr. Windsor and I spent a long weekend at the Boca Resort....hmmm must check our schedules....

As an aside...if you like to tent camp I recommend Cayo Costa state park, on the other side of the pass from Boca Grande.

Just thinking. . . wouldn't a DBR fishing tournament be fun?

I would absolutely love to host a DBR tarpon tournament.
I do corporate stuff like that all the time.

Tarpon season May thru July. 4 people per boat keeps the rates (http://4tarpon.wordpress.com/guide-services-and-charters/) reasonable when spilt. All we need is two boats to make a tournament. Girls against the guys? We fish either a 3 or 5 hour trip, generally around sunset, leaving your day free to beach it, visit the spa, golf or tour the town on a golf cart.
Have an early dinner, then a little wine and cheese on the boat, or skip dinner and bring beer and fried chix, your choice.
The average tarpon weighs around 100 pounds- up to two hundred, and if we don't catch at least 3, I'd be disappointed. We fish 15 minutes from the pick up dock, and it's rarely rough. Small bathroom on the boats, women love this comfort.
No prior fishing experience is needed. Take a few minutes to watch this Youtube video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qhu7QYbaiso&feature=email) to get an idea of how its done. (More here (http://4tarpon.wordpress.com/capt-sandys-client-catch-photos-and-videos/)).

Boca Grande (http://4tarpon.wordpress.com/staff/) is a unique place (http://www.flickr.com/photos/19445710@N08/show/with/1935536863/) in Florida. Really is "Old Florida".
The Gasparrilla Inn (http://www.the-gasparilla-inn.com/) is on the National Historic Hotel registry and is a little pricey, but worth every penny. There are weekly condo and home rentals available thru my brothers real estate office. (http://www.gasparillaproperties.com/index.php?action=page_display&PageID=3)

I'd even do a special DBR rate, and I promise it won't be that much more than normal.:)

Why not? You can have Bass in the boat and bass on the grill;).

Bass on the boat. Bass on the grill. And don't forget Bass (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bass_(beer)) in your glass.

And I thought Devildeac was referring to some kind of beer beverage in the boat when he used a capital b in Bass. Aren't message boards fun?

Bass on the boat was capitalized for just that reason:D-I didn't miss it. You and Colchar just missed my reference. I did not capitalize bass on the boat because THAT one referred the the fishy one;). I really need to insert a stick-your-tongue-out smiley here but that would make 5 (wink).

When do we go? I don't know how good I am at the fishing thing as I haven't been since KEEP in Japan many, many moons ago. :o And that was pretty much fishing in a barrel (stock tank). I have been drinking much more recently. :D

That's two people who can sit on the beach drinking out of cups sporting paper umbrellas. You can have a drinking tournament.

Works for me! :D:D

No "real" couples on the same team/boat. Mix and match my friend! :D

Are there imaginary couples?

Ya know, I did miss the reference, but if you notice, when I cut and pasted what you said I changed the capital B to a lower case b when I paraphrased you. And I thought it strange that you had used the B there. Must have been distracted by the work I wasn't doing...

Work should never get in the way of DBR! You have to get your priorities straight.

I'm loving the fishing/golfing/drinking idea. Let's do it next year! I have experience deep sea fishing (1 time and I caught a 75 lb blue marlin), driving a beer cart for a golf tournament, and drinking on the beach!

There are several watering holes on the island that could host the drinking stage of the event, one in particular is aptly named "Temptation". Generations of fishing guides have paved the way for you.

Tarpon fishing is done in Boca Grande Pass (http://4tarpon.wordpress.com/staff/boca-grande-pass/)(an inlet for NC folks), just off the south end of the Island. It would not be considered "offshore" fishing, like Marlin-Tuna etc...we are always within a 1/2 mile of shore.
15 minutes from the dock, usually calm, big fish, upscale accomadations...It's why this area became so famous.

It might be tough to get this done for '09. About 60% of my time is already booked and I am usually full by the end of March. What I suggest we do if we want to move forward on this is pick 4 days sometime between May 15 and July 1st '10 and decide on them sometime this summer or sooner to give everybody plenty of time to plan... have an arrival day, Fishing day, Golf day departure day. You will want to stay longer, but this could be the best way to start. The drinking event can be scheduled as a marathon between arrival and departure. :)

We need to think in multiples of 4 for this since we fish maximum 4 per boat and foursomes for golf. Enter as a team? If we could get a total of 12 -16 I think that would be perfect for the first year. If this should become a popular idea for DBR fans, we could probably handle 28-32 comfortably, maybe more.

I personally don't dive, but we can set that up if a group would rather do that than golf. There are people here who do that, but we are not really known as a diving destinaton.

This is a very relaxing place. No stop lights and once you are here, the preferred mode of transportation is a golf cart. The beaches are lonely and there is a great community library. Remember you don't need fishing experience to do this, just a little determination.

There is a private airport just off the Island that happens to be owned by a Duke alum and one of my regular clients if anyone wants to fly in by private plane or a group wants to get together for a private charter. They would probably allow The DBR Invitational Tarpon Tournament landing rights, I'd have to check. Here's more how to get here info (http://4tarpon.wordpress.com/guide-services-and-charters/how-to-get-here/) for driving or commercial flights.

I'd be all for adding some sort of charity component to this too.

All the details can be handled through my shop, this stuff is what we do. Melina Chaplin (http://4tarpon.wordpress.com/special-effects-for-women/melina-chaplin/)is my right hand and she keeps everything I do straight. It would be a breeze to set up.

If anybody (Ms Windsor?) wants to come see us this season for some fact finding, come on down.
