Before the season began, a number of folks figured that the ACC would split into three groups - a top group of four teams, five teams in the middle and three teams at the bottom. At nearly the mid-point of the conference season, it appears that this is happening. The surprises are BC at 5-3 and Miami at 3-5. BC has shown itself to be capable of playing well against the top teams and if they continue at their present pace, Al Skinner should be the leader for COY and they would be a contender for a spot in the NCAAT. Miami, on the other hand, was considered on the edge of the top teams. With their next two games against Wake and the Devils, they are in danger of digging a very deep hole for themselves.

DBR mentioned that heralded recruit, Lance Stepenson, visited College Park yesterday. Eric Prisbel of the Post had a short article on this unlikely occurrence. I admire this year's team for battling against bigger and more talented teams in the ACC and for being very competitive in 6 of their 7 games. If, in addition to adding some size next year, the Terp's add a one-and-done headcase who is reputed to be a selfish gunner, they will be interesting, if not entertaining to watch next year.

With Georgetown going down in flames (lost 5th straight), the only positive sports news in the Washington area are the exploits of the "Great 8" and the Caps.
