She's just having trouble with the cancer lately and says she doesn't have the energy to coach right now. This is sad; I think she's a great coach. My best wishes to her.

Kay Yow's courage and determination are an inspiration. She deserves no less than our support and prayers.

Yep,

She's a wonderful person and an inspiration to millions afflicted with the scourge. Not much else I can say.

The WRAL article mentions that Coach Yow is working with the Women's Basketball Coaches Association and The V Foundation to set up the Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer Fund. In just one year, and by virtue of a lot of hard work, it has grown tremendously. It has a dedicated and very impressive Board of Directors, and top-name coaches have already given much of their time for the cause. The Fund exists to fund research into women's cancers and to assist the underserved in the battle against these cancers.

Virtually every NCAA institution will participate in the WBCA Pink Zone February 13-22 to raise money for the Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer Fund. Please attend a women's game and help out!

She's always been an inspiration to me, regardless of the cancer. Her career in women's sports started at a time when there wasn't much institutional support and I've heard her tell some great stories about the early days. She's always been a leader in the field and a very gracious public figure.

Regarding the WBCA cancer fundaisers, NCSU women's basketball has their own fourth annual Hoops4Hope game on February 15. For once there is no Duke game conflicting with it so a bunch of us are going. Check out the information here (http://www.gopack.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=9200&ATCLID=1366408).
