Here's the story on Miami's Robert Marve, who wants (needs?) to transfer from Hurricane Town. Trouble is, UofM's coach and AD have kiboshed it by barring him from transferring to 27 specific schools. Partial (and unfair) quote from Shannon: "I have respect for Robert and wish him nothing but success in the future.” [Read the article to see why the quote is a bit unfair, but still on point.] 27 schools? Hey, why not all NCAA Div. 1 schools?

How can a coach stop you from transferring? If he just walked down to the provost's office and signed the paperwork, what would they do to him?

You can transfer, but not play without a release.
