Does this loss to an unranked team mean that the win over Xavier has less relevance on our seeding?

They are referring to the seeding for the NCAA tournament.

I would say it depends on how Xavier plays the rest of the year. There is plenty of basketball to be played. Go Duke!

Xavier's RPI is still quite good, but it definitely confirms that Xavier is not a top 10 team.

I think we really exposed Xavier.
In other news, Gonzaga lost to Portland State. Perhaps they haven't gotten over the heartbreaking OT loss to UConn.

Xavier is not a top 10 team but they are still a top 25 team and favored to win the Atlantic 14. This will still be a quality win for us at the end of the year. They were favored to beat Butler at home but Butler is no slouch.
Butler is 10-1 and has won @ Drake, vs Northwestern and beaten Horizon favorite Cleveland St (who beat Syracuse) on the road. Their only loss was a 3 point defeat at Ohio St.

It would have been much better for us if they had won, but I don't think the loss will hurt as long as Xavier doesn't fall apart during the rest of the season.

Was this result a surprise? Butler is currently ranked 10 in Sagarin. Xavier is 15.
