I was reading through the Roundup and the blurb about State's attendance struck me wrong. Apparently the writer attended the State game and was baffled by the horrid attendance and lackluster crowd, and criticized it for stupid trivia, a quick dance routine, and not signing a big man yet.

And then the experience apparently is representative of, "generally speaking" State games. The writer doesn't seem to acknowledge the fact that this is a Christmas Break game. Sure, 10,000 for a home game is poor attendance, but for a Break game without students against Lipscomb coming off a last place season....well, that puts it in perspective a little more. Is that game representative of non UNC/Duke games at State? Would Duke or UNC (or other schools?) fare as well attendance-wise and spirit-wise, under these same conditions?

State has put up consistently respectable attendance numbers for the past 5 years despite, generally speaking, having mediocre seasons.

It is especially ironic that the writer blasts State's attendance and passion considering the recent downtrending in those same areas in Cameron.

DBR usually has well-written articles that give a good update on the state of various programs, but this one just seemed overly critical and personal.

I don't think anyone should hang any ideas about attendance during a holiday season game. The students are gone, and with the economy as it is, those who might usually buy a ticket are probably weighing that option vs. presents and travel plans. Let's see how he thinks once January is in full swing.

One thing that has always struck me about State fans is that they are really never happy about anything. When Herb was there they were a competitive team and they had good players sure they weren't top 5 but they were legit top 25 or at least tourney capable teams and they pretty much ran him out of town. I have 2 cousins and an Uncle who are huge state fans and I am already hearing the grumblings about Lowe so I give him another year maybe two before they run him out too.

I did not see the game but Clemson went down to Miami and crushed Miami by 19. KC Rivers had 28 and Clemson forced 22 turnovers. Impressive road win for still undefeated Clemson. They will move up in the rankings. Clearly a dangerous team.

Trevor Booker grabbed 16 rebounds in the game. Oliver Purnell is putting together a solid program at Clemson. The Tigers will be a tough team to beat this season.

That's some pretty convincing stats right there. IMHO we need the other ACC teams to become more competitive on a national stage. In the long run, a weak ACC hurts us as well as UNC.

Interesting news about Clemson - I always find them hard to get a read on since they play a suspect schedule early on. Great to see that they are becoming a force though.

Y'all ready to believe me yet that Miami was the most overrated team in the country in the preseason?
