To date, the rankings are as follows:

http://www.sportsline.com/collegebasketball/polls/rpi/index1

RPI Explanation: http://www.college-basketball-rankings.com/college-basketball-rpi-ratings.html

SOS Explanation: http://www.college-basketball-rankings.com/ncaa-basketball-strength-of-schedule.html

RPI

Duke: 4
UNC: 12

SOS

Duke: 11
UNC: 58

I'm not the expert on RPI and SOS data, but I thought these rankings were interesting. Do these rankings really hold any value?

This early? Not really. Once conference play gets underway, the RPI will be a lot better. A few games into the season UNC was ranked in the 200's by the RPI. While that certainly made me smile, it's definitely not accurate.

All it means right now is that Duke has played a tougher schdule than UNC. Thats it. You are right, the ACC play will even everything out.

Hanstravel is on your Third Team AA? C'mon man! You really think he belongs below guys like Chase Buddinger and James Harden? Maybe... but only if Harden is actually averaging 26.3 rebounds per game as reported.

I based it solely on play this season. Hansbrough has only played in four games and yes the games he has played he has been great, but he has missed too much.

Harden in now averaging 25.5 ppg. Not rebounds - typo. He is a lottery pick in the making. Look at his stats (http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/player/profile?playerId=36072)

You're missing out on Sam Young. Dejaun Blair is an absolute beast, but you can't have him there and not have Young, and honestly you can't really make a list like this without at least having Young's name somewhere right now. He's been awesome for Pitt this season

I did miss Sam Young. That is my bad.

I had him on my preseason third team and he has a slow start and I have not heard and seen much about him. But with the way he is playing, I would expect to see him soon.

Hopefully our early lead in the polls will give us the inside track to a BCS bowl. Oh wait, this is college hoops where it's actually settled on the court at the end of the year...
