The women are an interesting team. They play excellent in your face defense, rebound very well at all position but really struggle on O. A lot of this is the loss of a real point guard on the floor. Abby Waner really had a hard time running the show- 8 TOs and some were pretty awful. But they find a way. It is not pretty basketball- but if they can ever get some decent outside shooting- they will be a tough out. Waner still is struggling with her shot and shot selection. If she can be a bit more patient and slow down a but- the O will flow a bit better.

Agreed. I think we had 30 turnovers? That clearly won't cut it against some of the better teams we play (Stanford, for example), but that doesn't mean we can't beat these teams. There were times when the offense looked really good (the defense almost always did), so it will be interesting to see how it comes together over the course of the season.

Abby needs to start making shots. Being a captain, she needs to start playing like one. She will make a great sports broadcaster. However after exams, its time to be patient taking good shots and taking care of each team possession.

The 30 turnovers are certainly bad, but the last point guard with a good assists to turnover ratio was Emily Waner, and she was practically run off the team.

On the bright side, the FG statistics also jump out at you:

1st Half: 10-27 37.0% 2nd Half: 14-23 60.9%

Duke was up by 4 at the half but went on to a 15-point victory.

The team has only shot 40.7% so far this season, but the women have held their opponents to an impressive 30.3%. If they can shoot as they did the second half for an entire game, they will be very successful.

Incidentally, it would be nice to get into a December rivalry with Michigan for both the men and the women.
