Suddenly VT is back in the championship hunt and our game with them matters.

It' still amazing we beat UVA 31-3.

More than just back in it - I'd be very surprised if VT doesn't win the ACC Coastal.

That was a major beating at the woodshed. TKO. Down goes Miami! Down goes Miami! They gave up over 450 yards on the ground. Amazing execution of the option by Johnson and the Yellow Jackets. They are going to be a thorn in the side of ACC teams as long as Johnson is there. Imagine what they will be like when he gets his players in his system. Yikes.

Georgia Tech clinched a share of the Coastal Division title with its win. The Jackets are finished in the league at 5-3.

The question is how many teams tie them at the top.

-- Miami needs to win at NC State next week to finish 5-3 in the ACC.

-- North Carolina needs to beat NC State tomorrow, then win at Duke next week to finish 5-3.

-- Virginia Tech needs to beat Duke tomorrow, then beat Virginia next week to finish 5-3.

-- Virginia needs to beat Clemson tomorrow then win at Virginia Tech to finish 5-3.

Obviously, either Virginia or Virginia Tech must lose another game, so we can't do better than a four-way tie -- Georgia Tech, Miami, UNC and one of the two Virginia schools.

Of that group, Virginia Tech wins almost all the tiebreakers if they win out (including the four-way tie). Georgia Tech loses almost all the tiebreakers, except a two-way tie with Miami. UNC beats Miami and Georgia Tech in tiebreakers, but is in bad shape since the Heels lose to either Virginia team. They need for one of them to lose this weekend, then for that team to beat the other next week so that both finish at 4-4.

So don't be surprised if your UNC buddies are pulling for the Blue Devils this weekend -- it's one of the few ways they can still play in the championship game.

As a Georgia Tech alum who actually tailgated at yesterday's game, I can tell you - it was a lot of people who enjoyed feasting on the Canes yesterday.

And wouldn't it be rich if Carolina made it to the championship because Duke handed both Virginia schools one of their losses?

Of course, should that happen, Duke can also keep Carolina from the championship next Saturday...
