Who was the Man of the Match vs. Georgia Southern? (Apologies to Steve Johnson -- the polls only allow 12 choices.)

Singler had an amazing game, but I gotta give this one to Nolan for the phenomenal defense he played.

Several guys may deserve this tonight - Scheyer, Nolan- but I have to give the nod to the most dominant player on the floor again - Singler.

McClure deserves props for his defense and rebounding as well.

Several quality candidates, but once again Singler is the best player on the floor.

I vote for the rim.

I mean, when we were shooting FTs.

Just happy to have so many valid candidates. It was refreshing to see some old fashioned Duke runs, especially the way we closed the first half.

Don't forget his dunking! (Dave's that is)

So much suffering without a complaint. Either that or the whistles.

How sweet were those dunks from Dave!!!

I say, Dave should be forbidden to take any shots that are not lay-ups or dunks. :D

Singler!

Second place to Scheyer's defense.

Honorable mention to Eliot Williams and his 11 boards in 14 minutes.

Seconded.

But on a serious note, I think Dave McClure really was the man. Maybe the 2nd. Why? He outplayed expectations, was a serious defensive threat, and was able to limit damage on the offensive end. We've seen him shut down top scorers (Joe Alexander), but not often. He's been doing it every game this season when he's come in.

Singler was the best player, but we expected such a performance out of him.

Certainly would get a different answer if votes were relative to expectation.

Not relative to expectation, I came up with

Rating Name (min)
81 Singler (22)
65 Henderson (20) surprised at this as he didn't seem in the flow again
54 Scheyer (22)
53 Smith (18)
48 Paulus (21)
48 Zoubek (14)
44 McClure (11)
43 Pocius (17)
35 Thomas (13)
34 Williams (14)
32 Plumlee (14)

Played <10 Min

57 Czyz (9)
06 Johnson (5)

Got to give GA Southern credit for great FT defense. They even tried 3 times to help G out with lane violations but as I recall he again missed all 3 re-do's.

He must have a hitch in his FT toss that threw off their timing. Greg missing both technical FTs was also quite a surprise.

I was surprised to read on another Duke baord that Greg is now #20 all time in steals ahead of Demarcus Nelson (who has slightly higher career minutes) and Nate James. With 141 at beginning of year he is on track for 188 assuming his fewer minutes are offset by being fresher and not having to be as careful to not foul.

# 9-10 all time is 194. Could not readily find # 11-20

1. Chris Duhon 300

7. Steve Wojciechowski 203

8. Bobby Hurley 202

9. Thomas Hill 194

tied Sean Dockery 194

I voted for Kyle Singler but you have to give Jon Scheyer some props. After two games, his Assist/Turnovers ratio is 10:1 (http://www.goduke.com/pdf4/153857.pdf?ATCLID=1622936&SPSID=22724&SPID=1845&DB_OEM_ID=4200).

Who the hell voted for lance?

Seriously. Lance was terrible tonight from the line early and his only points scored were essentially on follow ups to missed easy point opportunities (fast breaks that we missed the shots for example).

Now lance wasn't horrible in rebounding tonight. But still, i don't understand why Miles isn't getting a chance. I mean cmon, he played only garbage time (well) today. Not fair for the kid.

Whoa there man. K was obviously trying to make some kind of point to the freshmen last night. I don't know exactly what it was, but Miles will get his chance to play.

I also thought Lance played quite well. Of course I would like him to shoot better than 1-8 from the line, but he's being active on offense and seems to have finally found a good spot for himself on the team. What he seems to be doing very well - and this is something he was known for in high school IIRC - is drawing fouls. It wasn't super important last night, but imagine if those fouls he drew were on UNC's or Wake's frontcourt instead of Georgia Southern's.

I vote for the rim.

The form was bad, not the rim.

I voted for Jon, extremely impressive. Kyle is the team's most dominating player, but Jon may the best all-round. It's nice to have several good performances to choose from.

Great to see Singler in such good form. Seems like his body has caught up to his skill set and basketball smarts. He's playing a notch or two above everyone on the floor.

I voted for Jon on style points, but Singler is our best player.

I voted for Kyle as well. He is in mid season form right now.
