ECU has now not only completely squandered their early BCS? mojo, but also thrown themselves into a questionable spot in their conference race (though 2 of their 3 Ls are non-conference ones). More importantly, however, Duke is now better than Virginia Tech, Climpsun, and Wake Forest, according to the ironclad Transitive Property of Sports.
Duke beat Virginia by 28. Virginia beat ECU by 15. ECU beat Virginia Tech by 3. Duke is thus a whopping 46 points better than VT.
Now let's look at Climpsun. The Tigers fell to the Maryland Terrapins, 20-17. The Terrapins, however, lost to Virginia, 31-0. After their drubbing of the Hokies, the Blue Devils build on their lead and are an incredible 62 points superior to Climpsun!
Wake Forest recently dropped their first game of the season to Navy, by a touchdown. The Blue Devils, of course, handed Navy a 41-31 defeat earlier in the season, giving Duke a 17-point advantage against the Demon Deacons.
So there you have it. Duke is better than the three supposed ACC "frontrunners" by an average of roughly six touchdowns. If not for those pesky Yellow Jackets, Duke could be reliably penciled in for the Orange Bowl right now. Right, Ozzie?
