"In law school I didn't anticipate that I would be battling Barney the purple dinosaur," said Bilas.

Just watched Jay Bilas on ESPN say that Duke is the early favorite to win the 2014 National Championship.

That's good to hear.

I know he said he came away most impressed with Kansas after the Champions Classic, so I'm glad he's still confident in his choice after watching us compete with another heavyweight.

Ya see?! Some folks here like to smack Jay around but he's still one of us. Man's got to make a living! He'll always bleed dark blue.

I think Jay was only nominally a lawyer. Never really had his heart in it. But that's just me.

I talked briefly with an attorney and mediator in my state, a former state Supreme Court justice, this week. I asked him if he was still working full time. He told me he was because he "had no transferrable skills".

Jay clearly has transferrable skills. I envy that.

I've always wondered somewhat how good a coach Jay might have made had he walked that path.
