Center Anthony Stover, a 6-foot-9 senior center from Los Angeles Windward High, gave his verbal commitment to UCLA

Does this play into the Josh Smith recruitment?

I hope so. We talked earlier how if they got a center Josh would probably be less interested.

If Mr. Smith, himself, said he would be less interested if UCLA signed another center, then this is good news. Otherwise, it's hard to see how this would affect Josh Smith one way or another. It's difficult to imagine a prospect of his caliber losing minutes to a guy who was seriously thinking about going to Creighton. And I expect Josh Smith is smart enough to realize this.

I honestly don't think it hurt UCLA's chances. Josh Smith is considered one of the elite. A power player.

Anthony Stover is a slim 6'9. Weighs in at 210 lbs. Stover has upside but I doubt if he could hold Smith from taking over.

Josh can go anywhere and play right away.

I completely agree. Smith is quite a force and it seems very unlikely that he would sit behind anyone.
