Here is the press release hot off the press where the ACC named Lewis and Rey, offensive and defensive Payers Of the Week.

DURHAM, N.C. -- Duke's Thaddeus Lewis and Vincent Rey have received ACC Player of the Week honors after leading the Blue Devils to a 41-31 win over Navy this past Saturday, the league office announced on Monday afternoon.

Lewis, a junior quarterback from Opa-Locka, Fla., was named the conference's Offensive Back of the Week after completing 25-of-35 pass attempts for 317 yards and three touchdowns while rushing for a career-high and team-best 41 yards on 12 attempts. In addition to extending his school record streak of consecutive pass attempts without an interception to a nation's active best 206 tosses, Lewis and teammate Eron Riley became Duke's top touchdown-producing quarterback-wide receiver tandem with three scores on the day and 17 in their careers together. Against the Midshipmen, Lewis and Riley hooked up for touchdown passes covering 27, five and 49 yards.

Rey, a junior outside linebacker from Far Rockaway, N.Y., was tabbed the league's Defensive Back of the Week following a 12-tackle performance that included four tackles for loss, one sack and one fumble return of 37 yards for a touchdown. Rey helped the Blue Devil defense hold Navy to just 207 rushing yards -- 245 below their NCAA-leading average of 452 entering the contest.

Other weekly award winners included Clemson's Thomas Austin (Offensive Lineman), Virginia Tech's Brett Warren (Defensive Lineman) and Darren Evans (Rookie) and North Carolina's Jay Wooten (Specialist).

I'm getting greedy! May we have more standouts on the 27th? And a full stadium to watch as we have a go at breaking our ACC winless streak?

Congrats to the guys! The more of these we get, the more realistic it is that Coach Cutcliffe will be Coach of the Year!

I think I like the tend that is developing! I'd love it if we're good enough by October to play at 3:30P!
The UVA game could go a long way in determining the quality of season for both teams and maybe even how long at least one coach keeps his job.
Go Duke! Beat the Wahvaliers!

Traditions old can be retooled, foundations await the walls.
We're behind you, Cutcliffe's men, so listen while we call...

Blue Devils! Show the Wahvaliers the stuff of what you're made...
That no longer can they come down here and win at Wallace Wade!

Yes, sireeee! Some of us remember when UVA's football team was marginal and their band wore blue button down collared oxford shirts and rep tires. We're ready for the New Day in Wallace Wade.

First and ten! Do it again!

The smallest crowd I ever witnessed in Wade was against UVA in the rain iduring the 1980 season. 14,144 announced, but more like 9000. UVA won by 3. They have spanked us several time in recent memory, so it is indeed payback time.

It's so nice to see this kind of turnaround. I'm not going to get worked up in how close to a perfect season we'll have - it's still early, but Cut is pushing all the right buttons. Remarkable. The ACC is clearly down and this is a great time for him to come to the fore. Clearly there's only upside. And a nice thing is that we really cherish the wins. With BB, as K says, it's almost just a relief, since we've been the pursued for so long and not the pursuer. I'm so happy for Joe Surgan, for Thad Lewis, Vince O, and all these guys who have stuck it out. Persistence pays off (and so does having the right game plan, strategy, conditioning, playbook, etc).

When does the Duke Dome open? You know, our state-of-the-art, air-conditioned, retractable roof football stadium? Oh, sorry, I forgot. All this success made me forget we're doing it the gritty way, you know, Rocky I style.

btw duke should take out some serious "key man" insurance on Cutcliffe.

If our offensive line can continue to give Thad time to throw, we will be able to move the football. That in itself will help our defense by resting them. Even though thay are in better condition this year, it helps not to be on the field so long. The Cavs are ours this year! Go Duke!

Rey, a junior outside linebacker from Far Rockaway, N.Y., was tabbed the league's Defensive Back of the Week ...

This confuses me (emphasis added). Should it say defensive player of the week?

No, that's right. I'm pretty sure this is how they break it down, since there's 6 ACC POWs every week for these different positions:

1 Rookie
1 Offensive Back
1 Offensive Lineman
1 Defensive Back
1 Defensive Lineman
1 Specialist
