Here's a NY Times article on the Kansas quarterback, who is not only a great player but was all Big 12 academically after finishing 4th in his high school class in Austin, Texas. His mother was pushing Northwestern and Duke to prepare him for grad school; we didn't offer, apparently, even though he was the Texas 4A player of the year as a junior--the article suggests that he was too short since he's listed as only 5'11". As a sophomore last year, he led a perpetual doormat to a 12-1 record and passed for 3500 yards and 33 touchdowns. I'm optimistic about our team and happy with our qb, but it once again underlines the difficulties in picking who's going to be a great college player.

I think he's one of the most underrated players out there.

Its too bad this kid didn't come to Duke, however, if he did he would not necessarily be the star he is today. Duke definately showed interest in this kid, and it appears that the reason he didn't attend Duke was due to his personal decision, not due to lack of an offer (according to his Scout.com (http://kansas.scout.com/a.z?s=172&p=8&c=1&nid=1758580)page). Anyways, who knows? He could have come to Duke, and spent his whole career buried on the bench. Regardless, I'm happy with Thad and Zach as our quaterbacks for now, and think Sean Renfree (a freshmen who I beleive is currently redshirting) can be a star under Cutcliffe.
