Thaddeus Lewis interview, followed by freshman of influence -

http://bluedevilnation.wordpress.com/

Man, is it hard to balance opening day for football and the Gold Medal accomplishment of Coach K. I've don't recall a last week in August ever being so busy.

Is this thread Spam?

Only to the usual ones who complain. I was hoping people would list Herald links, etc. Simply trying to keep links in one place and trying to cast the light on Duke Football amd not my site. This is game week, you know. If you feel it is spam, why not ask the moderators? If they see fit to remove this thread, so be it. But to bring it up in public, again! Well, it isn't that productive. Perhaps some have noticed that I have covered DFB daily, at practices, pc's etc. In fact, the articles I have linked are generally premium information in other venues. There is a concerted effort to bring DFB to the forefront and I don't see an interview with Cut and players as spam. In fact, I don't think any link to an article where Coach Cut posed with our new AD could be considered spam.;)

This is just good promotion of our football program.

And there's nothing wrong with that on a Duke site.

These young men and their coaches deserve as much attention and respect as we can muster. The more people that are involved in that process, the better.

As to coverage of the game, here are some more links: From JMU's student newspaper (http://www.thebreeze.org/2008/08-25/sports1.html); a column (http://media.www.dukechronicle.com/media/storage/paper884/news/2008/08/27/Column/Drizzling.On.The.Parade-3405904-page2.shtml)(not really on the JMU game) from the Duke paper; and the Herald-Sun (http://heraldsun.southernheadlines.com/sports/18-983758.cfm).

From the International Herald Tribune, of all places (though I guess it is just an AP article):

Unbelievable...to paraphrase Full Metal Jacket: "Why don't you come in for the big win, Indoor??"

When I posted that link the only other links were by the thread creater and they only contained links to his site. They contained NO information about Duke Football in the posts, only the links. I think that is the definition of spam around here.

Let's see! I had Coach K's press conference to attend today. I also interviewed Wojo and Collins, covered K meeting Cut in picture form and then attended a photo shoot for the women's team and got home just minutes ago.

I will now write an article on K's conference, go over the interviews with the assistants, print an interview with Eron Riley from yesterday and set an article on a prospect. I will then download and edit over 100 pictures and get up in the morning to cover football practice. IOW, right now, the best I can do is link the article and that should start a round of discussion imo. The title of the thread is Game Week links;)

Since I'm no longer minutes away from campus, I appreciate all the comments, pictures and links you've shared particularly about football. We've lived with an historic drought in more ways than simply the weather. I'm thinking the return of the fall monsoons heralds the return of DUKE FOOTBALL.

Ditto to that. I've been looking for every story I can this past week, and your posts and articles have been the most informative. Thanks much.

What link are you referring to, Indoor? Where was it posted? I don't see another thread with a similar title.

You promote something once, and it falls on the ears of the diehards. It's essential to keep promoting. Watzone is one of the few that even bothers to attend practices, games, press conferences, etc. You certainly won't find another major Duke site with a database (at it's disposal) doing it. Hell, several newspapers in the state won't even send reporters to Duke Football games. Hopefully, that will change.
Until that changes, long live Watzone and his reporting.

Indoor 66 - Watzone hardly needs defending by anyone, as he is a longstanding, well-regarded member of the DBR community. He and his blog have a somewhat unique, interactive relationship with this board, one that is not only tolerated but encouraged by the powers that be here. While he does often link directly to his site, if you check out his blog, you will see that the entries there quite often synthesize - very well I might add - various media reports with Watzone's own conversations and observations. It's good stuff, and hardly in the spirit of Spam.

I appreciate the defense, but as Cutcliffe says, "Are you ready for some football?" I went to this mornings practice which was the last one media ccould attend before kickoff this week. While Cut's comments on K might get lost to hoops fans here, this was a football interview.

The man is fighting as hard as one can to make Duke Football a subject of interest to our basketball heavy fanbase. He promises a different gameday experience.

FWIW, Riley was Mark May's ACC Player to Watch when he and Lou Holtz did their ESPN preview of the conference last week. He's a legitimate pro-prospect and should really benefit from having Coach Cut running the show.

Absolutely.

He's not our only pro prospect though.

Big Vince is a bona fide player, and he'll be benefiting from the new staff just as much as anyone else. He has a few colleagues on the D-line that could join him in the pros if they keep workin' at it, too.

We've got a few freshmen, in particular, that have the potential to turn into NFL-caliber players (Matt Daniels leading the way...), but what's nice now is that we have such a talented staff that player development will improve exponentially, thereby increasing the numbers, likelihood and success rate of our football players that want to and are capable of playing professional football in the years to come.

Is this game going to be available online for viewing?

Goduke.com lists ACC Select under media for the game and they often had a (pay) online video feed of games last year. But... when I go to their site it doesn't look like they've updated their schedule of online content since Spring '08.

Just wondering if anyone knows about ACC Select's offerings this football season, re: Duke in particular.

(also, what XM radio channel carries the games?)

Thanks!

Go Duke!!!!!! Go Blue Devils!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GTHCGTH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

From my understanding ACC Select went under. Don't think the game is on line, but I could be wrong. Here are a three pictures of Wallace Wade the night before the game.

Watzone,
Thanks for the pics (makin' me wish I could be there!) and update re: ACC Select. Too bad if they went under since it was pretty great (albeit painful ) getting to actually watch most Duke Football games while living out on the West Coast.

I guess that I'm not necessarily too surprised if they failed since their customer support was less than stellar whenever I had difficulties.

Go Duke!!!!!!! Go Blue Devils!!!!!!!!!!!!! GTHCGTH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
