Recently I've had a few small appliances (iron, hair dryer, etc) die on me. I don't want to throw them out in the regular trash and I've looked on the Durham County web site to see if they have a place to drop off small appliances that are dead and nothing jumped out at me. Does anyone know specifically where I can take these items or should I just throw them in the regular trash?

I don't know the answer, but I have to say every time I've called the Durham One Call number, they know the answer to what I need to know.

Here's the county web-site. You'll probably have to drop them off at recycling or place them in the bin.

The county will pick up large appliances for a fee, though I suspect that you can drop them off at recycling yourself.

Anyway, there's a number that you can call.

Thanks! I called them and they will take my small appliances. When I lived in Raleigh this was something handled by the County hence I only looked on the County web site.
