"Moose" pies have an entirely different connotation to me, and NOT a very tasty one . (hint: think cow "pies" only larger ).

My wife enjoys "moose tracks" ice cream.

Then again, I think of bad connotations with THAT one as well.

    Cheers,

P.S. Had to delete one emoticon.

"Moose tracks" makes me think more of their paths in the snow (which, of course, are accompanied by their "pies").

Gotcha on the emoticons, but can you count one for the "thumbs down" at the top of your post?

Hard decision between Lime and Mom's Strawberry cobbler; heated, with a scoop o' vannilla ice cream semi-melted into it. I voted Lime.

Then again, I am/was a big fan of Humble Pie.

That would certainly be another acceptable choice .

    Blueberry
    followed closely by apple

  9. #49

    blueberries > all other food

Definitely a southern-biased list... no blueberry?!

blueberry comes in first, with apple a respectable second along with cherry (but only if made from fresh cherries, none of that pie-filling-in-a-can crap).

personally, I can't compare fruit pies with cream pies, they're too different- key lime or lemon cream would win that category for me.

but really, when it comes to pie, I wouldn't kick any of 'em out of bed.

I second this vote. Definitely my all time favorite! A strawberry rhubarb cobbler is high on my desserts list as well.

Actually, the moose "pies" pointed out to me when hiking looked more like a pile of chocolate eggs.

Thanks a lot...Reese's Easter eggs will never be the same for me.
For the record, I know someone will point out Cadbury eggs, but in my book, those are somewhat akin to the above-mentioned moose eggs (unless we're talking about the double chocolate or peanut butter cream eggs...those are really good, but both hard to find).

Has any one mentioned "Moon Pies?" (no, not our own moonpie23, sadly)

By next Easter, you'll have forgotten the image. We did.

When we were in Yellowstone several years ago and spent some time with one of the rangers, they actually call these, uh, by-products, "scat." As in moose scat, bear scat, etc...

Now, back to your regularly scheduled edible thread ...

    Question No one mentioned ...

I am surprised no one mentioned the traditional shoo-fly pie. Anything with that much sweetness can't be all THAT bad.

Was there no call for sweet potato pie? I saw the pumpkin folks before.

Perhaps the real question to ask is:
    Peach Pie or Peach Cobbler?

    Cheers,
    Lavabe

    P.S. I say cobbler.

I'd go with cobbler. I'd also recommend Willie Nelson's Peach Cobbler Ice Cream by Ben & Jerry's.

oh, I'd definitely say cobbler > pie. I usually make pies with crumble topping, just to make them more cobbler-like.
