    FLV Converter Question

I'm interested in a program that will allow me to transfer youtube videos to my ipod. I assume there is no legal hurdle, given that youtube is free. I have been told that I need an FLV converter program. Is this the best way to go? If so, are there any good free programs that won't crash my system or get it all bugged up?

New Bern, NC unless it's a home football game then I'm grilling on Devil's Alley

    ffmpeg is free

I use a program called ffmpeg, coupled with another program called orbit. I use orbit to rip the vids, then ffmpeg to convert. The nice thing about ffmpeg is it converts from .flv to lots of formats, the drawback is it is run from a command line, and is tricky to figure out. (Although once you do, it is pretty simple, and very quick).

Thanks for the responses. It's good to know what works before downloading something that causes major malfunctions on everything else!
