Anthony Grant

DBR has mentioned Anthony Grant a few times when writing on coaching vacancies. Grant has certainly done a good job at VCU and seemed to be more of a hot item last year than this year. His situation at VCU is much different than most mid-major coaches, however. He's paid A LOT more than most coaches at that level and potential employers know that as soon as they speak with his agent/representative. This might have something to do with him not being in the news constantly as jobs are discussed.

VCU seemed most concerned about the LSU opening, and now that that one's off the table (Alleva helped them out) they're relieved.

VCU reworked his contract last year, and again this year: new deal will pay in the range of $800k a year. Huge money for a CAA school.

if he keeps winning, no question that someone will snap him up despite the salary. At some point, he'll go because he wants a bigger stage.
